I wake up next to Camila the next day at 8: 30 a.m. (Hey! The early bird gets the worm!) Camila is out and I don't have any reason to wake her, so I open up Snapchat on my phone, take a picture of her sleeping, type the words, "It was fun!", and send it to her. I grab my suitcase in one hand, my phone in the other, and Matty's car keys in my mouth. I walk out to the car, throw the suitcase in the back and my phone on the passenger seat, and put the keys in the ignition. I start the engine, pull out of Camila's driveway, and head back to Matty's house, in my blue onezee and all.
When I get to Matty's house, I see a piece of paper taped to the door and a black t-shirt on the ground. I walk up to see what the piece of paper is to find that it's a note. In black ink, the words, "Meet me in the bathroom. You know what I mean. -MPW<3" are written across it. The note was correct, I do know what it means. I rip the note off the door, grab the shirt off of the ground and head back into the car. In the car I take off my onezee and put on the t-shirt and see the words, "Don't say no" on the front of it in a cursive font. I then slip on some jeans and my sneakers and drive to the school.
When I approach the school, I run up to the front door and it shockingly opens. I run downstairs towards the bathroom. I yell Matty's name a couple times as I quickly walk to the bathroom. I turn the corner, and am startled when I almost run into Camila. She is smiling and hugs me and whispers to me, "Listen to your shirt." I am immensely confused, but don't ask her what she means. I keep walking and almost run into somone yet again. This time it is Matty's parents. His father shakes my hand firmly and smiles, and his mother hugs me and whispers, "Don't say no." Oh my god. I get it now...
I walk into the bathroom and see Matty standing in front of me. Camila and his parents have entered the bathroom and closed the door. Matty stands in front of me, and grabs my hand. He squeezes it as firmly as his father shook it moments ago. His hand is very sweaty, it's almost disgusting. I smile back at Matty, our eyes locked on each other. The most romantic thing about this scene, Matty is wearing the shirt he wore the day I met him. The frog guts stain on it are visible.
Matty begins to speak to me. "Kasey Joseph Aarons. You know that I love you. I've loved you since the moment we first made eye contact in band on May 23rd. Since the moment you spilled frog guts on me that same day. Since the moment you sent me your very first text, when we officially became an item. We've been through lots of things together. We went through your parents death together, we went through the rst of our juinor year together. We had sex in my closet together."
Matty parents take a little gasp in horror at that. I hear Camila giggle a little.
"I don't want to forget those moments," Matty continues, our hands still locked together, "And I certainly son't want to forget that I went through those moments with you. I love you."
"I love you too," I say to him, starting to tear up.
"I don't want to lose you. I really don't. I want you to be with me wherever I go, and I want to be with you wherever you go."
I see him start to tear up. Then before I know it, he's gets down on one knee...
"Oh god, Matty," I say to him, crying harder now than I did when my parents died.
He pulls a little box out of his pocket and holds it in between us. He opens it, and inside a beautiful diamond ring sits.
"Kasey Joseph Aarons, will you marry me?"
The shirt, Kasey. Think of the shirt...
"Yes. God, yes!" I say, tears streaming down my face. He puts the ring on my left ring finger and bursts into tears. He stands up and we kiss for a very long period of time that feels like forever. Behind me, I hear Camila and Matty's parents cheering, Camila crying with tears of joy.
Matty and I part our lips and hold each other in our arms. I can't believe what has just happened. I just devoted my life to Matthew Patrick Waters. He just devoted his life to me. We are happy, we are in love. I know from this moment on, I will never be happier with anyone else. With Matty in my arms, and me in his, I feel complete. We really do love each other. We really do.
