"Please let Danielle be ok, please let Danielle be ok," Este kept repeating in her mind, she had been trying to contact Danielle on both her home phone and cell but there was no answer. Again it felt like forever but in reality the drive took 30mins, which in Este's mind was 30mins too long!.

Este had made Alana climb down onto the floor as she didn't want her baby sister watching as she ploughed through all the people wandering aimlessly on the road. Some of them attempted to try and get into the car but Este just kept the accelerator flat to the floor sending bodies flying everywhere. One old guys head exploded against her windscreen and she used up all the water in her car as she turned the wipers on to clean the screen.

"Oh God!" Este cried as she pulled up in front of Danielle's place.

Alana hearing the worry in her voice climbed back up onto the front seat.

"What?" She asked looking at Este before directing her gaze to Danielle's house.

As soon as Alana saw Danielle's house she flew out of the car and started running towards the open front door giving Este no time to react.

"Alana, Alana No WAIT! Come back Alana. STOP! STOP!" Este yelled after her, but Alana wasn't listening and ran straight into the house.

Este grabbed the baseball bat and chased after her, when she got to the front door she found Alana on the floor rocking backwards and forwards sobbing,

"No no no no no not Danielle, not Danielle," Alana cried over and over.

Down the hallway Este noticed the mangled figure on the floor wearing dark jeans and leather jacket covered in blood. Beginning to cry she sat down next to her sister and held her tightly. How could the day have started off such a beautiful bright sunny morning only to now end up a dark bloody nightmare. It was just way too much for Este to comprehend.

Suddenly she felt tired and rested her forehead against Alana's shoulder, she just wanted to close her eyes and pretend none of this had ever happened. She wanted to go to sleep and wake up back at college stressing over end of year finals and look forward to spending the weekend at home with her family.

Oh God her family. In one afternoon she had almost lost her entire family, her mom, dad and now Danielle, she squeezed Alana even tighter as she tried to stop the thoughts flooding her mind. However the more she tried to stop, the more the memories just kept coming.

Again she started crying as she remembered a young Danielle laughing whilst shaking hands with Mickey Mouse at Disneyland, all three girls riding the dodgem cars. Her family singing Mustang Sally at the local fair, Danielle jumping on Este's bed all excited telling her about her first kiss. The memories continued to bombard her mind. Este's head felt like it was going to explode, and she didn't know how to stop it.

Alana was no longer calling out Danielle's name. The trauma of the last few hours had finally caused her mind to do the complete opposite and totally shut down, she continued to rock in Este's embrace but was unaware of Este's presence. Her whole being was numb.

The girls sat together in silence in Danielle's dark hallway oblivious to time and place.
