CHAPTER 4
As soon as the bell rings, I'm out of class, running to my locker. So close, yet so far from my freedom but as I near my locker, my nightmares are confirmed. "LOSER" painted in red on my dull grey locker. My heart drops, I was hoping to get away without anymore pain. I slyly open my locker, hoping no one'd notice but people walk by snickering. I hate this place.
I take what's left in my locker, shut the door and run out the school. Trying to get away from that hell hole. I don't take a glance back to the beige jail I've been kept in for five long years.
I keep running, unaware of my surroundings. Everything's blurring together and I can barely see where I'm going. I stop at a curb, breathing heavily. I look around, the bust stop is too far and if I walk back I'll end up missing it and waiting for a while. Ugh, that means I have to walk home. Thanks for taking the car mom, I think groaning. A breath of cold wind came, I shudder wishing I brought a jacket.
I keep walking but only feel colder. I turn on my heel, looking for a warm place to stay for a little bit. I see a Starbucks down the sidewalk, looks like I'll be staying there for a while. I take my time walking, taking everything in, maybe one last time.
When I reach Starbucks, the sweet smell of brewing beans embrace me and freshly baked goods tease my stomach. Remebering I didn't get to buy a snack during break, I stand in line and buy a grande iced caramel macchiato and debate on getting a cinnamon role or a chocloate chip chunk cookie. Staring at the goods, my mouth waters, I can't pick between two of my favourite baked treats, so I buy both. Finding a seat, I take a large sip of my macchiato and a huge bite out of my roll. I take out my notebook. pages and pages filled with stories, beginning at the day that started it all. Finishing the roll, I decide to reread the first entry, bracing myself for the pain to come.
