CHAPTER 6
I look up from my notebook, blinking back tears. Reading it over brings back the feelings and vivid memories of those two days. It still hurts each time I read it. I lost my best friend that day and no sooner did other people find out. I was laughed at, pitied, called names and hated. I was labeled with any negative name possible. I became the outcast, the freak.
I don't understand why they'd do such a thing, ignore me like they did. What I do has nothing to do with them, they shouldn't be hating me when it doesn't even hurt them. But they've dragged themselves into this, they're part of the problem now.
Out of the past 4 years, this year was the worst. Senior year is supposed to be the best year of our high school experience, end it with a bang. Well, the school year is not quite over yet. I finish my macchiato and cookies and decide I've got one more stop on my way home. One stereotype shall be fulfilled, the end to senior year will be the best ending of them all.
I exit Starbucks and head down the sidewalk to CV. On my way there, a loud horn rang behind me. I keep walking, ignoring the repeating noise. I reach CV and as I step one foot in the path of the sliding doors, someone grabs me and whips we around.
"Didn't you hear the horn Janie?" Nina asks me, glaring slightly.
"As a matter of fact, I did Nina." I answer, glaring back.
"Why didn't you answer?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was supposed to answer to that noise when you haven't answered any of my calls." Anger boils through me, she's ruining my evening.
Nina's eyes widen, "whatever. I was just going to invite you over so we can get ready for the party."
I gape at her, "you can't just expect me to waltz back to that car with you and go to a party with you when you've completely ignored me the last 8 months!" I take a deep breath, "that's bs Nina, really you think I'm that stupid? My gpa is higher then the amount of touchdowns Russel gets in one game!"
"I was only trying to be nice Jan, you could've just said no. No need to insult him!"
"Why don't you tell him that, he's been the leader of a clan that wants my head off. Or is that you?"
"How dare you say that to me. I'm the prom queen, hierarchy of SFB high."
"Well, we're done with high school, so I'm done with your bs." She reaches a hand out to slap me, but I grab it, "no more Nina. By the way, don't call me Jan, you aren't worthy." I turn from her stunned face and march into CV and finish the business I have left to do.
