That night, Goken said goodbye to his parents and the other people at the castle. His mother had tears in her eyes as the carriage pulled away slowly. "Do not worry," Thaddeus told her. "He'll be alright." Thaddeus looked up and stared at the carriage traveling slowly down the road towards Chorrol. He frowned before turning around and walking inside the castle.

Goken woke with a sudden shudder. He sat up slowly and looked around. It was early in the morning and he was sitting inside of the carriage. It was snowing as was common in the Bruma area, which was situated high up in the Jerall mountains close to the Cyrodiil-Skyrim border. He jumped out of the carriage and waved goodbye to the driver. He started down a grey stoned road which led north. As he walked up the mountain path, he looked to his left. There in the distance he could see Cloud Ruler Temple, the headquarters of the Blades. The Blades were the personal bodyguards of the Emperor of Tamriel, but many centuries ago, they were known across Nirn as famous dragon hunters. But then the dragons had gone extinct and the Blades found themselves a new calling.

The Blades and the Dragonspyres had a good relationship: Goken Dragonspyre the V had been a member of their order and had even trained in the temple. "I wonder if I'll ever become a Blade?" Goken wondered. He continued north to the border. It took him an entire day to walk there. Once he had passed through the gate, he took a look at the map his father had given him. The closest settlement was the city of Riften to the east, but his father had instructed him to go north to the city of Windhelm. So off he went.

It was now midnight. The two moons of Nirn, Masser and Secunda, sat directly above Goken as he walked along the river. Ahead of him was a small settlement some 300 meters away.As he walked along he heard rustling in the bushes alongside him. He stopped and stared into the bush. There, hidden behind the leaves, was about a dozen pairs of eyes, all staring back at him. He jolted in shock and began to run. He heard cries behind him and the rustling of leaves, and when he turned back, a group of soldiers was chasing him, all wearing fur armour with blue cloth and carrying shields which bore a bear's head.

He looked ahead and his heart dropped. Running towards him was another group of soldiers, however, these ones were different: they wore silver armour. It, along with their swords and shields, was more refined. "Imperials!" he heard someone shout from behind him. "Kill them!" The rest was a blur.
