"Jeff, I don't know about this." I stated a little worried. "[y/n], it's fine. You can do this." He replied calmingly. I nodded and focused on expanding the shield (Like shown in the clip from last chapter). The only reason why I was worried is because, if I don't expand my shield in time, Jeff will get cut by Jane. Me and Jane are pretty good friends, but I still don't want Jeff to get hurt. Jane stared at Jeff as she held the knife out in front of her with an evil smile. "Hey [y/n], it's okay if you don't make it in time. Either way, I'm happy." Jane stated with a smirk and a laugh.
I gave her a fake laugh so she wouldn't see that I was nervous. Jeff gave me a nod to signal me to start. Jane would give me a 10 second head start, since she knew I hadn't done this yet. I nodded back and pictured the shield expanding. Honestly, it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I wasn't even keeping up with time. Before I knew it, Jane put a small cut on Jeff's wrist. He bit his lip in pain as he muttered something under his breath. She didn't cut that deep, but I'm sure it still hurt a bit. He soon shook it off and gave me a reassuring stare.
"I'm sorry Jeff, I wasn't ready!" I panicked. "It's okay, [y/n]. I'm fine. Just keep trying and focus." He replied. I nodded and took his tip. I cleared my mind and pictured the shield expanding. Jane counted out loud, which threw me off a bit. It made me slightly panic and the same thing that happened last time, happened again. Instead this time, she cut his other wrist. Crimson blood trickled out of the cut and I panicked again. "Jeff!" He hissed in pain once more, but then shook it off. "[y/n], focus." He said calmly as he tried to stop the bleeding.
I nodded and took a deep breath. I closed my eyes and pictured Jeff then pictured the shield expanding. Jane continued to count, but this time I blocked her out. 'I have to protect Jeff. I have to protect Jeff.' I kept repeating in my head. Jane reached ten and I opened my eyes. She went to stab Jeff, but the blade bent as soon as it came in contact with my shield. Jane dropped the knife and looked at Jeff. He was fine, besides his wrist. He looked around at himself to make sure he didn't get hurt. After he spotted no damage, he gave me a proud smile.
"See? I knew you had I in you. We just had to find it." He said. I smiled shyly and looked at his wrist. "Jeff, your wrist." I said worried. "Don't worry, Slender can heal them." He replied. I nodded and looked at Jane. "Thanks for helping us Jane." I said. She smiled and looked at Jeff with an evil grin. "Anytime. I had fun doing it." She stated with a laugh. Jeff growled and rolled his eyes.
