maddy: I'm doing great! you?

chandler: ehh, you're gonna be disappointed.

maddy: :((( please tell me that you didn't cut...

chandler: I did:(

maddy: but why? what happened?

chandler: my parents came home last night really late and they were fighting. it was bad. I went downstairs and tried to stop but both of them started hitting me, it was almost like they teamed up against me and it was bad. i was really bloody and I just want to fvcking kill myself.

maddy: no!! don't you fvcking dare talk like that. you don't deserve this... just please don't

chandler: can we video chat or something?

maddy: yeah of course.

••

Chandler face timed me and it didn't even take me a second to answer. He really doesn't deserve this.

His bruised and beaten face popped up on my phone and I immediately started cringing at the thought of his parents hitting him. There were tear stains running down his face. He looked as if he was in some sort of street fight. you know when someone says "I would hate to see the other guy." ? Well, he'd be the other guy. I felt pity towards him, and all I wanted to do was comfort him.

"Oh Chandler..." He started crying again and that set me on the edge. I started tearing up and they were threatening to spill out my eyes. All I had to do was blink and there would be tears running down my face. I would have to blink eventually...

"Hi maddy." His voice was so delicate. "I like your voice." He continued and I couldn't help but chuckle. He didn't look up when he talked though it was almost like he was scared.

"Chandler please look at me." He started to move his head upward until we were staring into each other's eyes through out little phone screens. His eyes were bloodshot too. "I'm so sorry." Was all I could say. It's not like I'm with him, so technically if he were to do anything that could hurt him right there and now, I can't physically stop him. I could only try and persuade.

"You look nice." He said again. I thanked him but this wasn't the reason why we started video chatting. Don't get me wrong, a compliment always made someone happy but I should be the one complimenting him. I don't need a compliment. He does. I don't think he gets one every single day. But I'm going to make sure he does from now on.

"Chandler." I warned. "Thank you but please stop. We need to talk about you and your decisions..." I trailed off and took a breath. "Tell me something, please."

"Yeah?" He asked so quietly that I almost couldn't hear.

"Who do you care about?" I was kind of hoping that he would say me, but we have literally known each other for a day.

"A lot of people actually. I care about my mom and dad even if they don't really care about me. I also care about my brother..." He took a deep breath just like I did seconds before. Then he looked at me directly in my eyes. "And you, because you seem to care about me, and no one has cared about me before. It's a pretty cool feeling. Y'know?"

"Yeah, I do know." I smiled a bit. "Promise me something."

"Yeah, what is that?"

"Every time you think about hurting yourself, think of your parents, brother and me. I sure has hell don't want you hurting yourself and I bet they don't either."

"Not making any promises." He mumbled.

"Chandler! Please. Just don't hurt yourself." I wanted to ask him a question, and I was hoping that he wouldn't think I'm a stalker because it's kind of personal. "What city do you live in?"

"Why? What are you gonna do?"

"If you ever need anyone to comfort you and be with you to make you feel less lonely, please let me be the one." I practically begged.

"Atlanta." No way.

"Atlanta?! I live in Lawrenceville Georgia!" My face lit up with excitement. The two were very close and I could practically walk to his house if I wanted. Ok. That's a lie. I was just exaggerating.

He started smiling and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

"Please come visit me." He said with a little hope in his voice. "I would visit you if I could, but my parents..."

"Yeah, yeah I definitely will, Chandler. I guarantee it." I clapped a lot.

"Haha." Just as he said that, I heard something like glass break. I saw Chandler's eyes widen and he almost immediately picked up his phone. "Maddy, I got to go see what that was. Bye!"

"No! Wait!" But I was too late, and he ended the call.

Who knows what that was! He could be getting hurt right this second...
