The next hour was boring. I did nothing except sit in the back of the car listening to my totally awesome Spotify playlist.
I couldn't keep my mind off of Chandler.
Is he okay?
Or is he fvcking unconscious like the rest of them?At least the threat was arrested the hour before.
I hope one of the neighbors called an ambulance, possibly saving Chandler's mom and brothers lives.
If they were knocked out cold only after someone violently hitting them, that's some serious business.Does it make them weak if they were knocked out because someone was hitting them?
Nope...
I never saw a picture of Chandler's dad, but now I can imagine how big and strong he is and how monster-like he probably looks. Does he not carry humanity? No one that loves their family would hurt them in such a way.
I never knew my dad but I do know he would never do that...
The reason I never knew my dad is because he died a week before I was born. And I know this because my mom told me literally about a month ago. She always said that I wasn't old enough to understand just yet. But I'm a young woman and I could understand just fine. Even back then.
Whenever I looked at pictures of my family, there was always this random guy in them too. I always asked my mom who he was but she just said that it wasn't important and that I'll see him one day. I always knew it was my dad, but I just never liked to admit it.
He died in a fire. He was a fireman. A Hero, because he saved a helpless family from the burning flames that took their home away from them, when he 100% knew that he was risking his life.
A Hero.
And I hope that I'll be A Hero tonight.

"That'll be 28 dollars miss."
Wow. I thought it would be a lot more, but I guess not.
I guess al that Christmas money I got last year came in clutch.
I gave him 28 out of about 400 dollars that I had brought with me.
"Have a good night." The driver said to me and in return I gave him a smile trying to hide the fear that could easily be seen in my eyes if you got a close enough look.
With that, he drove off, and I turned around to walk up the pathway leading to Chandler's home.
My legs started shaking uncontrollably when my eyes found its way to an ambulance, where paramedics were loading a body in on a stretcher.
It was a women.
Chandler's mom.
There were two more ambulance vehicles, the other one had a little boy being put into it just like Chandler's mom.
I wonder what the third one was for.
Who was it for?
By that time, the paramedics got into their ambulances and turned on their sirens, and left at the speed of light to go to the hospital. I feel bad.
All three of the ambulances are now gone. But I still don't know who was in the third one. Maybe a neighbor that also got hurt by Chandler's dad. And Chandler is still in there waiting for me to come and save him.
What am I waiting for?
I walked up the pathway farther, until I was stopped by a police officer.
"I'm going to need you to stop right there miss. You see this right here," he started "Is police tape." He finished then pointed down to the yellow tape that says "Police Line do not cross."
"But I need to get in there." I pleaded.
"Who are you to the Riggs?"
Do I lie to an officer or do I tell the truth?
Honesty is the best policy...
"I'm a friend."
"Sorry, but I can't allow you to go in there."
"How bad is it in there?" I started off with a simple question but a simple question turned into several simple questions, that the officer most likely knew the answer to. "Is there anyone in there still? A teenage boy? Seventeen years old?"
"It's a crime scene. And there is no one in there. Everyone in there was rushed to the hospital. Even the seventeen year old teenage boy."
FVCK
"What happened to him?" I asked most definitely anxious. I wanted to know what happened to the boy who I grew so comfortable with, especially if we were just texting.
"When we arrived, we found the young man with blood running down his wrists. He had several open wounds on his wrists to be more specific. They were deep, so we contacted the paramedics to come get the Riggs family. We did what was best."
I felt as if my heart had stopped beating and I was to catch my breath that I so desperately wanted to catch because me life depended on it.
He cut, when he promised that he wouldn't anymore...
I guess I won't follow in my dad's footsteps tonight.
I guess I won't be A Hero tonight.
