The Injection

Chapter One

Hang on.All of this happened so quickly that I might not remember everything of my. . .strange situation. But I will tell you everything I can recall.

I am Gryphon Redding. I am seventeen years old. The school bell rang loudly and all the students of Starwood High flooded into the outside world. I started walking my usual route and spotted a new building named Biogen.The sign on the building stated the facility manufactured Biological Technology to better life.If only that was the truth.

"This is a waste of money. It's not gonna happen.Biological Technology."

I walked maybe a few more steps when something struck my head and knocked me out cold.When I woke up,I discovered I was in a dark cell.

"The subject is awake,Sir." said a voice in the distance.

"Good.Bring him in." answered a second one.

A burly man opened the cell and grabbed me.

"Get your hands off of me!" I yelled as I struggled.

With his free hand, the man reached into the inside of his labcoat and pulled out a pistol. He pointed it at me.

"I'll shoot you.Cut it out."

I stopped resisting and he dragged me into another room. He lifted me up and strapped me to a lab table.

"Is he ready?" asked the second man.

"Yes."

The second man went over to a fridge and pulled out a syringe. He plucked it with his finger and pulled out a little hand recorder.

"Test number six thousand seven hundred and nine.Subject is recieving injection."

He walked towards me and jammed the needle into a vein of mine. A quick pain shot up my arm as he pushed the plundger, injecting me with the purple liquid inside.

"Injection successful.Knock him out and put him in cell block c,Benedict."

As soon as he said that, his assistant Benedict struck my head and everything went black.I woke up for the second time and felt even worse.

"Stop knocking me out.."

"They can't hear you," said a girls voice.

My heart jumped into my throat. I was surprised to hear another voice. I turned towards it and saw a girl in tattered clothing chained to a wall by a collar.

"This room is sound proofed to the highest degree."

A door opened. A man with a tray walked in. He grabbed a raw steak and threw it into the girls cell and then threw another into mine.

"Eat up,freaks.

When he left the room,the girl picked up the steak and started eating it.

"This is disgusting.I'm not eating that"

"Just eat it. You won't get anything else," she said.

"No! They're treating us like animals! I'm leaving this hell hole."

"There's no way,"she said"You'll be killed."

"I'd rather die trying to escape than live like an animal."

At that moment, I experienced the worse pain. My body ached and my eyes throbbed.

"What's happening..?"

"It's starting."

The first thing that happened was I grew a tail. It quickly grew black fur.Then, I grew claws on my hands and talons on my feet. I kicked off my shoes and dropped to my knees. My canines grew longer and sharper.Lastly, my ears receeded into my head and a pair of cat ears grew on top.

"You lived..," said the girl"No one else has lived through the transformation.."

"What the hell is happening?!"

The door opened a second time. The guy who injected me walked in.

"I'll tell you. The Chimera Project is what is happening.By combining animal DNA with human DNA, I can create a new, more dominant race of Chimeras with me, Martin C. Blaise, as the leader. Take yourself for example. The speed of a cheetah, the talons and eyesight of a harpy eagle and the strength of a gorilla. Just one is better of the entire human race!"

Blaise walked over to my cell.

"You're going to help me gain dominion over the world.There is nothing you can do about that."

With him telling me what I could and couldn't do, I snapped. I grabbed him by his shirt and slammed him into the cell bars. I let go and he crumpled. I searched his pockets, found a key, and unlocked my cell door. I walked out and looked at the girl who looked back. Using the key, I tried unlocking her cell but the key didn't work. I threw it aside and began to pick the lock with my claws.

"Just go.It won't work."

The door clicked and opened. Instead of getting up and leaving, the girl sat there, unable to stand.

He said I had gorilla strength.I could break her out. I thought to myself.

I grabbed her collar and pulled with all my strength.Slowly,it began to bend and then open completely.

"Come on.Lets go."

She nodded and got up. We left the cell block and began making our way through the facility. We ran into Benedict. He fumbled for his gun when primal insticts clicked in my head. I pounced on him and started raking into him with my claws. When I finished, my hands were soaked with blood. I grabbed his gun and ran. The girl and I burst out of Biogen and into the forest nearby.
