Trust Issues

"[Name], what the fuck are you doing with my phone?" Levi's voice suddenly sounded behind you. You yelped and almost dropped the phone.

"I- I was s-searching for.. a p-phone number.." you stuttered, but your cheeks were turning red.

He narrowed his eyes, he was extremely intimidating when he did so. "I don't believe you, [Name]. What were you doing?"

It all started a month ago.

It had been a beautiful day. You were cleaning your house, which you shared with your boyfriend. You've met in university and you couldn't imagine a better boyfriend than Levi. You were dating him for two years now and he is more than you ever thought someone could be for you.
He has some difficult weeks on his job, so that's why you were busy with cooking a meal for him. Pasta, his favorite food.

You were almost done when the phone rang, and you saw the name of your beloved boyfriend on your screen.

"Levi" you greeted him.

"[Name], good evening" his voice sounded deep as always, and it made your heart beats faster.

"[Name], I'm sorry to tell you, but I have an unexpected meeting tonight. I'll be late, but I know you have to wake up early tomorrow so don't wait for me. I love you" He said and he hung up.

You blinked a few times, having the telephone still in your left hand. A feeling of fear raged through your body.

This wasn't the first time he did this. The weeks before, he also cancelled a date with you with a work excuse. And there was a week he was late for three days in a row.

You stopped breathing and your heart froze.

In the second year of high school, when you were 14 years old, you met a wonderful guy named Eren. He was your first boyfriend, and he was everything you wished for. Kind, gentle and he respected you.
Things changed when you went to University, and so did he. You both had a different study, but that didn't matter. You were still happy.
But he wasn't. He used to visit you every now and then, but he often called you with something like "[Name], I'm going to hang out with my friends today" or "Please don't visit me tonight, I have extra work to do."
You, being the kind-hearted person, always agreed with him and waited patient until he had time for you.

Until that day came, that he suddenly visited you. Without entering your house, he told you that he met another girl and that he wanted to spend his life with her.

And that was it.

He left you, heartbroken and confused. Your trust in all men and your trust in love disappeared. You and Eren had been dating for over four years. What kind of person were you that you didn't saw this coming? How stupid were you actually?

Not that there was a new man in your life immediately. You didn't even want that! But things changed when you met Levi on a friends' party. He wasn't only the most handsome man you had ever seen; he was also charming and calm. You also found out that he was rough and he always frowned, but hell, you couldn't care any less!

After lots of dates you felt yourself fall in love again. However, you felt that Eren had left deep wounds in your heart. You had issues with trusting Levi, but he never had any reason to keep something hidden for you.

Until the moment of the phone calls.

That evening you couldn't behave yourself. You HAD TO check if he really had a meeting. So after an hour you decided to call him, and you told him that you had lost your wallet. Perhaps he knew where it was?
He didn't knew, but you heard the voice of his boss through the phone. So he really told you the truth. That night you slept well.

You thought that you would be calmer from now on. But unfortunately, this little thing opened the wound in your heart. Your heart was bleeding again, and it overwhelmed everything. Even your love.

You started to check Levi more and more. At evenings that he told you he was working, you visited him unexpected. With an excuse to surprise him or to bring him dinner. The real reason was that you were checking if there was another woman at his office.

You never caught him with another woman, but this didn't held you from checking him more. That you didn't catch him didn't mean that he weren't betraying you.

When he suddenly told you one day that he wanted to jog every evening, your heart skipped a beat out of fear. Not again! You couldn't forbid him, so out of despair you offered to jog along with him.
You expected excuses and all, but he was enthusiast. "Good plan" he told you.

So from that moment on, you jogged every day with him. You hated it, but it was better than sitting on the couch and not knowing where he was. If you weren't with him, he had the space to do other things...

Your distrust in him was increasing instead of decreasing. So at that evening you started to check his phone when he was in the shower.
You checked his photos and was about to check his messages when you heard some noises.

"[Name], what the fuck are you doing with my mobile phone?" Levi's voice suddenly sounded behind you. You yelped and almost dropped the phone.

"I- I was s-searching for.. a p-phone number.." you stuttered, but your cheeks turned red.

He narrowed his eyes, he was extremely intimidating when he did so. "Tch. I don't believe you, [Name]. What were you doing?"

"Nothing" you lied.

He slowly shook his head. "You were checking if I sent love messages to other women" he said on his usual cold tone. "You think I don't see that you don't fucking trust me anymore? For more than a month you're checking on me. You 'surprise' me while I'm working, you call three times a day with some kind of lame excuse," he growled, "I hoped that you would get over it by yourself, but it passes all bounds, it is too bad. I don't want to live with you like this."

Your eyes widened and your body started to tremble. "W-what do you mean with that?"

"That I'm fucking done with it." He slowly walked over to you and he locked his eyes with you. His face was angry instead of stoic, but you also sensed some hurt in his eyes.

"D-done?" You asked, you wanted to run away but before you could he pulled you in a hug.

"I am not Eren" he whispered in your ear. "I know he hurt you badly, but that doesn't mean I'm the same. I never cheated on a woman in my whole life. You really have to learn that you can trust me, because I can't take this anymore" he told you.

Your eyes filled with tears. "L-Levi I am so sorry.. I tried to.." you cried out. Levi held you close in his arms, and he softly stroked your back. "[Name]... you know that I love you. I love you more than anything. I never loved someone like I love you. Please believe me"

"Levi.." you whispered.

He cupped your face to lock his eyes with yours once again. "I know about your trust issues, my love. I wish you never met that fucking Eren. But you're mine now. And I will never, ever hurt you the way he did, you brat" he mumbled.

He sealed that promise by a gentle kiss on your lips, and for the first time in forever you felt you could really trust him.

Because he loves you, and only you.
