Escape

I hitched my bags, and I ran. Probably the most cowardly act ever performed in Hogwarts History, but I didn't care. The war was over, and nobody heeded of my existence. I would not be needed any more. No more services. The man I was supposed to keep an eye on was dead. My job was done.
I wanted to go home. I wanted my old Muggle life back, I wanted Frank, to tell him everything, everything about our Wizarding World, everything about the horrors I have witnessed. I wanted him to hold me close, and nuzzle my hair, to feel protected...to feel taken care of...to feel needed. Yes, no more services, no more life-threatening jobs, no more; that was an old life, and I was leaving it behind.
I hitched my bags higher and stumbled across the dark grounds, unaware where I was going, only feeling the need to escape, for freedom that lay somewhere beyond.
My bags were heavy. All the belongings I ever had and ever needed were in these bags. They were my sole company during my lonely days. And I had always had them packed. Just in case. Just in case I didn't need this wretched job any more.
And then I stumbled. I felt my body propelling through the air head first into the soil in front of me as I landed onto the earth with a sickening thud. I was so kocked out of breath that I had hardly any left to scream, and all I could let out was a heavy "ooomf." Christ, that hurt. Lying on my stomach I scrambled around trying to locate my bags, trying to ignore the pain in my chest and the dizzyness in my head. I grovelled around for something...anything but this soft filth and I felt the slow panic rise inside me, the hysterical tears that stung my eyes as I tried to find something to hold on to, something solid and firm. And grovelling frantically,  I suddenly took hold of something, a tree root. Horror filled me as I raised my head to look up at the swaying branches of the Whomping Willow. I remembered that time when Snape howled at Harry and Ron for hitting the "precious" Whomping Willow holding up my newspaper article for the proof, perhaps for a dramatic emphasis. I wondered what he would say if he knew I had hit it splat with my body. Did hitting a tree with a car have the same consequences as hitting it with your body? Especially when it hit back? I laughed histerically through the blinding pain, feeling the dirt in my hands and face, and all over my clothes. Snape was no more. He would never taunt anyone again. Just when I started wondering why the tree hadn't hit me yet, lo and behold the horror of my horrors, out if the dark rose a dark cloaked figure. My eyes opened wide when I realized straight away who it was, as he slowly turned to face me. I held back a scream, hoping he couldn't see me in the dark.
For a second we just stared at each other, my eyes wide in fear, he frowning dangerously. His body was leaning slightly forward as he looked at me with blazing eyes. It was almost beautiful.
But I realized that he had seen me, and that it was too late to run for cover.
"Noooooo," I shrieked, "You are dead!"
He moved swifter than I thought he would, though I couldn't help noticing, with a slight limp, as he came towards me and pinnd me down so I couldn't escape. He was so close I could see every detail of his face, and I saw panic stricken all over. But of course. He had lost the war. They were after him. The Ministry. He was the wretched Death Eater. He was a gonner.
"You are supposed to be dead," I panted. I was blabbering, and I knew it, but he seemed to pay no attention. He was looking around, still pinning me down. He had the look of the predator that was about to slaughter its prey.
"Nooooo," I screamed,as it suddenly dawned on me what he was about to do, clawing to get away. "Noooo. I've never done you harm! I've never touched a hair on your head! I could have, but I didn't. Oh mercy!"
"Quiet," hissed Severus Snape.
"HEL-" I tried screaming frantically but all of a sudden a hand had covered my mouth and nose, and I felt myself choking, unable to breath.
"Now he's going to kill me too," I thought, "he's going to finish me as coldly as he did him-" I struggled for air like a fish without water, lashing out with the last of my strength, trying to resist the blackness that was threatening to engulf me.
And then nothing.
