"Emery! Em! Hey Em!" a girl yelled in a panic, frantically shaking her room mates sleeping body until her tired eyes fluttered open.

Emery rolled over in her bed and fixed her hair out of her face "what Malaya?" she asked, making no effort to hide how bothered she was to be woken "its three in the-"

She was cut off by someone pounding on their door aggressively.

Her friend looked to the noise then back at Emery "Michael's here" she whispered with concern.

"Open up Em! I know you're in there!" He yelled with a muffled voice.

Emery got out of her bed "get your phone just in case" she whispered as she slowly walked towards their dorm room door.

There was a subtle knock instead of a bang.

"Mikey?" She asked through the door "how did you get up here?"

There was a pause before conversation.

"Emery my love I'm-"

"Michael" she cut him off "whatever you have to say I've already heard it" her voice was cold.

"But-"

"If you care so much about me then why did you kiss her?" she asked with disgust "why did you kiss her more passionately than you've ever even looked at me?" she held back her tears, refusing to waste even a drop of sorrow on him.

"I'm sorry.."

"You're sorry? It's three in the morning on a Thursday night and you've come here to say you're just sorry?" her voice had reached its maximum anger level "well you know what Michael? I'm sorry too!" she pulled open the door "I'm sorry-" her astonishment at his appearance petrified her words.

Michael looked at her with red puffy eyes that sat above dark circles caused by his sleep depriving habit of over thinking. His body had turned frail from lack of proper consumption of the foods he used to enjoy willingly and his dyed blonde hair soaked all the color from his already porcelain skin making him look like a weary ghost here to settle his unfinished business.

"Michael.." Emery said with all the sympathy she had left for him "what happened to you?"

He looked down to the ground and back up at her "I broke my heart" he replied, giving her none of the blame for his tragedy.

Emery left her room and reached out to grab his hand, it was cold and bony just like a skeletons "I had no idea it was hurting you this badly"

"I would never admit to it" his eyes swelled with tears "I haven't eaten in two days"

"Michael!"

"I can't! I can't do it!" He pulled his hand away from hers and put his hands to his face "I don't deserve it! I'm a terrible person!"

"Em" Malaya said from behind her.

She turned around to see her friend put her finger over her lips telling her to quiet their conversation.

"Michael, you must be quiet" she took a step closer to him but he backed away and sunk to the floor.

Emery closed her dorm room door "Mikey hush" she said as he sobbed over himself "don't cry, I'm nothing special"

He sniffled.

"You'll get better too, I promise, now go eat something and get out of here before someone sees you"

Michael shook his head.

Emery knelt down to be eye level "why not–"
