It had only seemed like Ravenpaw just closed his eyes as Swiftrain prodded him awake."Time to get up sleepy head, we need to start training early in the morning", He said cheerfully. "Ugh... how can he sound so happy at this time of day?" Ravenpaw thought to himself. As if his mentor had read his mind," We must be up early to go on the first patrol", Swiftrain meowed."Lets hurry, they're waiting on us." he nodded towards the other cats waiting and bounded towards them. There were two other apprentices in the patrol. One was a black shecat with long silky fur, the other was a tortiseshell and white shecat with orange and brown patches.There was an awkward silence between them as they walked to the stream surrounding the island. A sudden mew surprised Ravenpaw " Hi, I'm Specklepaw"the tortoiseshell shecat said shyly. The other shecat then turned to introduce herself as well, " I'm Darkpaw" she murmured, staring down at the ground.Before he properly introduced himself they had reached the stream. He braced himself to cross the stream."Its kind of hard to explain swimming...It's kind of just instinct.... Do your best and I will help and advise you." Swiftrain nodded toward the stream. The other cats were already in the water as he dipped his paws carefully in the stream.It was strange feeling the water as it soaked into his fur. Ravenpaw shuddered, it was cold.He waded as far as he could before he began to actually try swimming. He swiped hard with his paws in the water, as if it were his enemy. Before long he had defeated the water and was on the other side. He shook off with the other cats, scattering tiny droplets everywhere. Swiftrain looked back to check on him before the patrol set off again, " Keep up." He told Ravenpaw quietly. All was quiet until they had reached a river. "This is the River," He began," It marks our border with ThunderClan," He flicked his tail over to a forest on the other side," and WindClan , way down there" he pointed with his muzzle towards a flat area of land. Ravenpaw nodded and followed the rest of them to a small gorge," This is the gorge, this is as close as you should get to it, apprentices aren't allowed near it, stay far from it" Swiftrain advised.Ravenpaw dipped his head in response. They trotted along the River until they had checked the entire border, and then headed back to camp. Once there, Ravenpaw found the other aprentices he met this morning. "I've not gotten a chance to introduce myself! My appologies, I'm Ravenpaw , if you haven't already figured that out." Spottedpaw waved her tail in greeting."hi", Darkpaw mewed quietly. "Should we feed the elders?" Ravenpaw asked."We already fed them, but we should change their bedding." Spottedpaw replied. "It looks like some of the other apprentices already gathered some moss",annouced Darkpaw."Oh yay, thats the worst part.", Spottedpaw grinned."now all we need to do is take it to the den." The three cats headed toward the pile of moss and stopped in their tracks,when a loud screech echoed across the island.
