Blue Eyes Make Me Smile

Christian POV

I see her beautiful blue eyes staring into mine. I think it's the most wonderful sight I've ever seen. Then she smiles at me with her knowing smile, she's weak but she's here and I'm so happy.

"Hey baby welcome back" I look at her and say with a smile that reaches my eyes.

"Hi!" She says weakly

Dr. Greene stands there looking at us with a small smile before approaching Ana's bed.

"How are you feeling Ana? Welcome back, you gave us all a big scare young lady. This man here hasn't left your side one minute."

"I'm thirsty and a bit sore all over."

I see a question in her eyes, one I know she wants to ask, but is afraid. Is she scared to know if I don't know about the babies, or is she scared to find out she may have lost the babies. Oh she doesn't even know shes's carrying twins yet.

"Dr. Greene, maybe Ana would like to be reassured that the babies are safe, can you do an ultrasound so she can see them."

She looks at me, I don't know if it's from the shock of having twins or the shock of me knowing.

"Yes, but let's get her some ice chips and a little water while I get the ultrasound machine in here."

Ana looks at me in wonder, her eyes are full of expression and love.

"You know about our little blip Christian?"

"Blip?"

"Yes, Blip, that's what I've been calling him until he arrives, though he kinda looks like a lima bean, but blip is much better than lima bean."

Ana smiles at her personal joke and remembering what must have been her first ultrasound. She has no clue and she must not have heard the plural when I said babies. Should I tell her now, or let her see them on the ultrasound. I wonder if this is how she felt when she didn't know if she should have told me or not. No I know she must have been a bit scared. I don't like her feeling scared to tell me anything. It breaks my heart.

"Ana, yes I know all about blip, and I'm happy to let you know they are doing great, but as Dr. Greene has told me, they could be girls not boys."

That got her attention. She is smart and the plural just made her put two and two together, literally. I want to laugh at my joke, but don't. I want to see what her reaction is before I tell her we are having twins. That I am the ultimate male and made two babies. Elliot still cannot believe we are having twins. Mom and dad are so excited for us, three grandchildren so quickly. Thank goodness Mia isn't married and pregnant, they would be over the moon then. Though I can't imagine my baby sister ever getting pregnant or married, the man that marries my sister will have to go through one hell of a background check with me before he even gets near my baby sisters.

"Christian, did you just say they? As in more than one?"

Dr. Greene's assistant, or nurse, someone saves me right then by wheeling in the ultrasound machine.

"Ahh hello Heather, Mrs. Grey is ready to see her twins, why don't you go ahead and help me with the ultrasound. Mr. Grey this is Heather, my nurse. Ana, you remember Heather?"

"Yes, hello nurse Heather. I remember you."

"Ok great let's get started then. Mr. Grey you know where to sit of course."

Dr. Greene and I have an understanding already, I sit in my preferred spot next to Ana's head, holding her hand, which now is firmly grasping mine, with my eyes glued to the monitors. I am just as eager as Ana is to see our jellybeans. I already know they are safe, I saw them about twelve hours ago, but I want to see my girls face light up when she sees two of them. What we made together. What we created, what I did, I feel so powerful, so strong, so confident at this moment nothing can take away this feeling inside of me. I don't think I've ever felt this confidence,  not even in my playroom or boardroom. The feeling that I did this to her is overwhelming, that I created not one but two babies is incredible to me. I squeeze her hand in anticipation of what she is about to see. She gives me a gentle and weak squeeze back, I need to be gentle with her, I know she's sore and needs all of the TLC I can give and afford right now.
