Julie Stone and Hunter Black walked to the working room of Lynn, Ben's girlfriend of a few weeks now.
Hunter was hiding something and Julie was itching to know what it is. The question was who would win?
When Julie walked into the blue tainted room she was expect a teenage worker, not her father.
"Julie?" He asked looking dangerously sick as he reached for her.
"B-brent? What is wrong with you?"
"You look so good, happy"
"I- I have to go" she said about to walk away"
"Julie wait!" Brent called out. Julie sighed and walked back and Hunter looked like her bodyguard in waiting you need to know, you need to know why I left, I can't lose you again without telling you please listen."
Julie pondered this. She wasn't a mean or ruthless person in the slightest. She was hurt, which in hindsight is worst.
"I don't want to hear it" she pulled at her shirt sleeve and attempted to walk out.
"Julie, please, I can't do this alone"
These words ticked her. She snapped and turned around and was almost in his face.
"You can't don't this alone? I grew up alone which a slut for a mother and a perverted man who had tried to push himself on me repeatedly ."
Brent slammed the desk top and sat up. " You don't think I know this?! You don't think I've been living in a sea of pure guilt and mourning the terrifying thought that I lost you! But I had to leave Julie, you don't fucking understand!"
"Why?! Why did you leave me? " she yelled . For years she replayed the image of her father leaving without an explanation.
"I was an alcoholic Julie!" He cried.
She was astounded, never once had she seen her father touch a drink. He was always kind, caring , and respectful.
"I would go to bars for days at a time, I would fight, spend ridiculous amounts of money on stuff I don't even remember buying. But one day, I went too far. I was out drunk one day when you were with the baby sitter. I come home and see your mother butt naked with some tool who worked on Fox News and i-i...."
She started to cry.
"I don't know what happened to me, I was so angry! I just went up to the man and just started to hit him and I couldn't stop, I didn't want to stop.
And your mother, she just kept yelling and calling me insane and I was drunk and filled with anger"
Brent, the sweet man, started to weeping into his cold hands.
"What did you do?" Julie whispered shaking as she moved her hands to hold on to Hunter caring hand.
"I hit her" he bowed his head.
Julie couldn't believe that the man who taught her to be patient, to be kind and have peace would do so.
"No ! You're lying" she yelled waving her hands madly. "Tell me why you really left, it was me wasn't it? I lost everyone at least once." Julie cried backing even further.
Hunter understood what she meant at the last part, that it was unintentionally targeted at him. His fist clench and he bit his lips, he didn't understand what has to do to show Julie that he was completely devoted to her.
"Julie you have to listen-"
"No! If you're just going to lie than I don't want to here this bullshit! Don't follow me" she yelled about to break down as she ran out the hallways and out the buildings and fell to her bandaged knees and just cried.
Hunter looked up to Brent .
"Why the fuck do you want into her life now? Huh? You had ten fucking year you coward."
The man sighed. "You don't understand"
"I understand completely, I understand that every time you approach Julie, she becomes a mess."
"It's cause I love her Hunter, I love her a million times more than I love myself"
"Then answer the question" Hunter said facing Brent with dark eyes.
"I did, I was an alcoholic and partial drug abuser"
"No Brent" Hunter said approaching Brent and his superior aura dominated Brents. " Tell me why you didn't come back"
Brent held his sheets tightly, its something Julie would do whenever she felt insecure about her beautiful body. "What are you hiding?"
The broken man cried " You c-cant tell her"
" I can't tell her if you don't tell me "
The uneasy tension was unbearable and Hunter paced irritated.
"Go on!"
"Hunter you have to understand that no matter how bad I wanted to come home-"
"I'm not asking for a sob story Julie, I'm asking for the truth"
"I'm very sick Hunter" Brent cried out. His heart broken expression said it all. "I'm dying and Julie has to be here, that's why I left her! I didn't want her to see, I didn't want her to go through it" he chuckled a fake laugh trying to fight back his tears. "I love her so much, and I ruined her life."
"How long?"
Brent bit his lips. "Two weeks, maybe three if I'm lucky"
Hunter felt a wave of pity, he felt sorrow for the old man sitting in front of him
"...do you want me to tell her-"
"No! I forbid you to tell her this until the time is right! Her mom knew, we made the story up about the hitting her but the alcoholism was true. "
Hunter looked away. "Julie, is dying too you know"
"Yes I do" Brent fought back against his tears.
"But the heart"
"You didn't tell her, did you?" Brent asked shock.
They daringly looked into each others guarded face.
"No"
"Are you going to tell her?" Brent asked with a knowing voice.
"No, and I forbade you to tell her." Hunter's voice was dark and low. His face turned from caring to menacing and dangerous in a millisecond "If you do, you won't have three weeks left."
"She'd never forgive you"
The silence rang. Hunter walked towards the exit.
"I don't care"
He left the room and took a powerful breath. "As long as she stay alive, I don't care"
