Eight months passed by so fast. I remember when I first landed in Hasetsu compared to now. Yuri was very surprised to see me. Now it feels as though we've known each other forever. Time surely flies by.
Yuri and I just landed in Japan after being in Barcelona, Spain for the Grand Prix Final. He placed second, just 0.12 points shy of beating Yurio. As our plane pulled into the terminal, I looked over at Yuri noticing he seems a bit nervous.
"You okay, Yuri? You're starting to shiver."
"What if everyone here isn't proud of me?.."
"I'm sure everyone here is proud of you. I'm sure they are waiting outside to celebrate your hard work and dedication to this season." I held his hand. "You may not have won gold but you skated your best season ever."
As the last person on the plane walked off, Yuri wiped a tear from his cheek and smiled at me. We grabbed our bags from the overhang and walked off, holding hands. Thoughts ran through my mind about next season. Taking a break to coach Yuri was one of the smartest decisions I've made in my career, but I also miss being on the ice. After all, Chris still hasn't beaten me yet.
As we walked out of the airport, Yuri's family surrounded us with hugs and support. Fans followed as we made it back to Hasetsu. The hot springs was decorated with lights, balloons, and a large food spread. We partied till late at night. Yuri and I laid in bed together, scrolling through social media. While watching a video of Yurio being chased by some Yuri's Angels, a text notification took over my screen.
"Hm. This is different."
"What's wrong, Victor?"
"I just received a message from an American number in Russian."
"An American person texting you in Russian? Could be a fan trying to stalk you. I've heard J.J. gets messages like that sometimes."
"This doesn't seem like a stalker though. This person said for us to meet them at some coordinates in a couple of weeks. We have to pack our skates too."
Yuri cuddled closer to me. "Could be a trick, but an America trip sounds kinda fun. A little traveling to somewhere new could help us figure out what we want to do for next season."
I smiled and kissed his forehead. "I'll book our tickets for next week and respond to the message. You should get some rest."
Yuri nodded as he fell into slumber. While responding to the mysterious message, I translated the coordinates. The coordinates pinpointed a large house somewhere in Massachusetts. I tried to see who possibly lived in the house but no information was generated after many search attempts. Another message took over my screen from the same number. The message was three emojis. "👍🏻🏒🇷🇺."
Dots were slowly connecting, trying to figure out who this number could be associated with. One person was in mind but I had serious doubts about it. I hadn't spoken to them in years. But how did they get my number? Could it be someone else faking the whole thing?
Part of me started to worry, while the rest was very curious. I placed my phone down on the table beside the bed and pulled Yuri closer to me. While staring at the ceiling I said a little prayer and then closed my eyes. Tomorrow will be a new morning and a start to a new adventure.
(I started this fanfic YEARS ago, but then life became filled with shit that made me busy. I've always wanted to come back and wiped the dust, repolish, and bring it back to life, but then lack of confidence took over. After just rewatching Yuri on Ice I decided it was time to bring this fanfic to the light again. I completely rewrote this first chapter and plan on doing the same for the others. Hopefully, this brings the same amount of interest as the original first chapter did. Enjoy.)
