Puffs of white appeared every once in a while inside the respirator enveloping half of the girl's face. The emerald green orbs in her eyes were covered halfway by her eyelids.
"How's the situation outside?"
"It's still unsafe for us to leave the tower"
The conversation of masked and unknown voices went on and everything that they were talking about was heard by a woman in the same room with the patient. Calculating blue eyes grazed its attention past the glass barrier and onto the pink-haired lab experiment. She tucked her crimson red hair behind her ear while her hand was preoccupied with a clipboard before she poised her pen above the white data sheet.
"How's the subject?"
The redhead dug her fingers on the clipboard and also ended up making marks on the paper. No matter how startled she was by her boss' sudden appearance, she diminished the emotion away from her face and kept the emotionless facade on.
"It appears like she still has some of her memories retained. She's only muttering one name now, unlike before when she remembers the names of her classmates"
The man ticked his tongue in annoyance and banged his fist on the glass wall. "What's with this brat? Normally she should've lost all of her memories now"
She blinked in astonishment. It wasn't this rash and easy to see the boss lose his composure.
"What's the name of the person she was saying?" He asked, his voice calm now as he leaned closer on the glass panel, his eyes reflecting the girl covered with white sheets.
The red-haired scientist flipped the papers filled with scribbles and notes and stopped upon reaching the observation sheet.
"Komaeda... Komaeda Nagito" She caught a glimpse of her boss nod, a gesture for her to fill him in with background information of the individual. "He's in the same class with her and has the title Ultimate Lucky Student but like the others, he succumbed into despair and became part of Ultimate Despair-"
"Is that all? That can't possibly be the only data you have on him" The boss clenched his fist and turned his back on the glass to face the scientist.
"According to the information I received, the two of them are childhood friends. Apparently one of Komaeda's hobbies is reading and it included the stories written by her. She also happened to be the person who indirectly introduced the idea of hope which he started to obsess with" She summarized the background story. "As for his influence on her, Komaeda was her inspiration to write most of the moving and uplifting stories she wrote and posted online"
"Typical childhood love stories" The man crossed his arms over his chest while shivering at the spare thought of that cringe-y reality. "I believe you already know what procedures you should take Chianti"
'Chianti' swiftly tucked the pen into her lab coat's pocket before sticking out her hand towards the man. "The card"
It took a minute for the man to respond by taking out a card from the inside of his coat. He was about to give the access to Chianti but briefly stopped midway. A flick of the man's eye drew Chianti's attention over her shoulder.
Behind her was one of the agents of their organization holding a gun in his hand.
"This is a warning Chianti. Any hint of turning into a traitor will cause you your death" The man spoke, radiating with an aura of full authority.
Stoic blue eyes returned her gaze back onto the man. "There's no need to repeat that. I'm fully aware of that already"
The agent lowered the gun and took a step backward. Their boss shot one last look at the red-haired scientist before he left with the agent.
Chianti rolled her eyes and pressed the card against the security lock. The glass wall split into two, granting passage for the scientist. Her shoes made clicking sounds on the white polished floor as she made her way towards the bed where the girl lies.
The scientist gently pushed away the pink locks of hair on the girl's forehead before she rested her hand on the teen's forehead.
"As if I'll ever break the promise I made with your mother" Chianti whispered.
The pinkette's green eyes moved ever so slowly and reflected the image of the red-haired scientist looking down at her.
"Nagito..."
Chianti lightly chuckled. "Like mother, like daughter, always putting the sake of others first before theirs" The cheerful atmosphere around her instantly faded upon remembering the last moments the girl's mother spent before she died.
"I won't fail this time Sacchan" Her dark blue eyes were suddenly ignited with sparks of determination. "I won't let Shiori have the same fate as you as long as I live"

This is obviously a Nagito x OC story a'right? I dedicate this story to CoFFeeBeaN28 for... well a lot of things I'm too lazy to type down =3=
This is probably a preview or a sneak-peek for the book. There's no guarantee I will update it sooner or later. >3<
But yeah I really like what I planned for Shiori and the Danganronpa cast
