One More Time
Chapter 6
Alan's Pov
I rushed into the room, startling my mom as the door banged loudly into the wall. Her eyes softened as soon as she saw me, and she walked toward me pulling me into a hug. I closed my eyes as I wrapped my arms around her small frame.
"How is she?" I asked.
"Better. It's her first relapse I guess we should have expected it sooner or later."
She looked up at me her chocolate brown eyes filling with tears. I clenched my fist trying to control the string of curse words that wanted to leave my mouth.
"Mom, she needs help. Serious help."
She nodded,"I know, but she won't take it."
"Mom, it doesn't matter. It's- It's ruining her! Look at her!"
Our gazes dropped on my sister. Her dark hair was sprawled on the pillow, making her look pale and innocent. She looked tired. Her skin had a grey tinge to it and her eyes were slightly blue. My mom's gaze dropped to the floor and I noticed a tear falling to the floor.
"What can we do Alan?"
I sighed in defeat,"I don't know mom."
I left my mom by the door and pulled a chair beside my sister. I gingerly took her frail hand in mine.
"The doctor said that she lost a lot of blood. If I hadn't found her when I did.. I don't know what would of happened."
I closed my eyes tightly,"Mom, I can't lose her."
She put her hand on my shoulder,"I know baby. I can't either."
"How come we didn't notice that she had gone back to doing this?"
"I don't know. I didn't expect it either."
I twisted my sisters arm to face me and what I saw made me want to throw a chair at the wall. Just do anything besides having to accept that my sister was in so much pain. There were fresh cuts on her skin. There were to many to count, and some were longer than my hand. I wanted to be sick. It was just a year ago that the same thing had happened.
"You should rest mom. I'll watch over Meli, okay?"
My mom looked at me gratefully,"You sure?"
"Of course mom."
She kissed my forehead,"Wake me up if anything happens."
"I will. Goodnight mom, I love you."
"I love you too baby."
She curled up in a chair and pulled one of the hospital covers over her. About ten minutes later I could hear her breathing evening out, letting me know that she was asleep.
I sighed. Everything was just so difficult. I hated that my sister had to go through so much. All just because of one guy. I ran my hands through my dark hair. She didn't deserve it.

"Alan?"
I blinked my eyes and groaned at the sudden pain coming from my neck. I looked up and saw that Melissa was awake.
"You're awake," I stated sleepily.
She gave me a small smile,"I am."
"Did you rest okay?"
"I'm exhausted."
"Then you should sleep more, or do you want something to eat?"
"I'm okay. Now, what are you doing here? Aren't you suppose to be in like Savannah or something like that?"
