Thursday October 24th:
How could he do this to me?
With HER. Of all people could he have chosen a worse girl to cheat with?
I hate her so much.
Amaryliss. She's a slag. She's a slut. She's a complete w****. Ugly, fake hair. Fake tan that makes her look like a tart. Prancing around in those tiny skirts that make her look...
...totally gorgeous and fit because she has a perfect body and a perfect face and a perfect everything. Unlike me. I'm so avergage, so boring, no wonder Eric...
...no. I can't think like that. I hate Eric. I hate his face.
There was a knock at the door, but I couldn't remove my head from my pillow.
Oh God, everyone will know. Everyone knows that he never loved me. He always loved her. I was just a ...temporary girlfriend to keep things interesting. I gave him everything, I gave him my virginity
The thought made me cry even more, so I pressed my face harder in to my sheets so no one would hear my sobs. The door opened slowly and someone sat on the end of my bed.
"Hey, it's just me," said Heather softly, rubbing my arm. "I'm so sorry Macy, he's a complete asshole, you could do SO much better than him."
I raised my head at the impossibility of this. "How could I do better than Eric? He's perfect. He's got a perfect body, perfect eyes, perfect hair, a perfect smile, perfect everything! And so does she!" I wailed.
"He's a cheater and a liar, and she's a complete slut. You'll find someone who's perfect on the inside and out."
"Really?"
"Really," she said firmly.
I sat up and wiped my eyes. "Everyone knows by now," I stated miserabley.
"They'll know what a disgusting cheater he is, and it won't be long until they break up again."
"So they're going out," I sighed. Heather looked at me sympathetically.
"Ouch my freaking knuckles," cursed Olivia, walking in rubbing her fist.
"You should have seen what Olivia did to him," chuckled Heather.
I looked at Olivia. "His nose might take some time to heal," she said cheerfully.
"How long?!" I demanded, a choked laugh slipping from my throat.
"A while," she said with a devilish glint in her eye. "Too bad that bitch scrammed before I could get her."
I assumed 'that bitch' was Amaryliss.
"Aw honey you look terrible," said Olivia. I knew she was right because she only called me 'honey' when things were really bad. "Don't worry, we'll bust Amaryliss's ass."

Friday October 25th:
After many hugs I told Olivia and Heather that I wanted to be alone and they reluctantly left.
Eventually, while lying in the dark, I started to think about the case again (you might not realise this, but crying and thinking about what everyone will say about you and you're cheating ex-boyfriend the next day gets old pretty damn fast). Something just didn't add up.
What if Amaryliss was with Eric at the motel? What if when she told Evan she was 'busy' it was because she was meeting Eric? As much as it sickened me to admit it, Amaryliss may not be the killer.
Instead of staying in and crying over my ex-boyfriend and the fact that my whole case had just fallen apart, I decided to show my face to the world and act like I didn't care.
Actually, Olivia and Heather dragged me out, but it still counts.
Heather was half-right. All of my friends and everyone in my Law and Order and History class, including Mr.Blake, said Eric was a cheating douche and I should forget about him. Mel and Sophie actually baked me cookies. Only Amaryliss's cronies went around giving me triumphant glares and sniggering behind their hands- it seemed like they were deliberately going out of their way to walk past me and laugh all day.
At lunch Heather went to band practise and I didn't feel like being in a crowd, so I bought a sandwich and found a nice bench just outside of campus to sit on. I'd just watched three drunks stagger past (drunk? at this time of day? really?) when Heather found me and asked me if I was people watching.
"Yeah," I replied and pointed to a man in a builders hat standing by some scafolding. "See that guy? He's not actually a builder. He's just standing there with a hat on so he can wolf whistle at women."
"Macy J and her powers of deduction?" asked Heather with a smile.
I laughed and nodded, taking another bite of my sandwich, which I'd only just realised was chicken when I'd asked for egg salad. "How did you know I'd be here?"
"I'm a cop's daughter remember," grinned Heather. "I have my ways."
"Heather and her powers of deduction," I said, and she laughed. "I've been thinking about the case. I'm wondering if it was actually Amaryliss afterall."
Heather raised her eyebrows, "You are?"
I nodded, then explained what I'd been thinking about all night.
"You're a really good detective you know Macy," she said when I was finneshed.
"Huh?"
"Even though you should want it to be Amaryliss now more than ever, you're still taking a step back and thinking logically," explained Heather. "You have to be a good detective to do that."
"Thanks," I said, then got back on topic before I got all emotional. "So if it wasn't Amaryliss, who else could it be?"
"One of the other cheerleaders?" suggested Heather. "Any of them could benefit from losing Amaryliss and Joanna."
"Lets go ask Olivia and-" I broke off before I said his name. "Just Olivia."
Heather put her arm around me as we walked. A small part of me hoped Amaryliss really wasn't the killer because no doubt Eric would have told her how much we knew by now and then maybe the next person to go missing would be me.
