A/N: HEY PEEPS. I HAVEN'T GIVEN UP ON THIS STORY YET!
No One's POV
It was a solemn day.
Fang had woken up a few hours ago and they had all gathered at the living room to come up with a plan.
Thanks to their advanced healing factor, everyone's injuries were mostly healed by now. Phoenix was stuck to Fang like glue after the fight, not wanting anything bad happening to her daddy again.
A/N: I wasn't so clear in the first chapter so I'm going to explain how they made advancements and stuff.
So basically, different sectors were set up in order to build back things of the world, the pre-apocolyptic world, from the rubble that it was brought to. It wasn't like the Hunger Games or Divergent, the sectors were only for work. The people in the sectors still could live in any area they wanted. Thanks to the scientists' meddling, the "evolved" race of people had abilities and advantages that the normal humans never had. To put it simply, they managed to advance faster and even further then what the humans had achieved previously.
Also, in order to show what the flock's relationship with the others is like, I'll give an example. Imagine a kingdom, there will be the royals and the citizens. The flock are the royals and the others are the citizens. But, the flock doesn't want to be made so important, because they want to be equal with the others.
The flock spent weeks planning the trip, gathering resources and setting meeting points and emergency communication connections. Thanks to the sectors, the flock managed to get everything they needed and even more for the trip to find Max.
Finally the day of the trip arrived, everyone was filled with anxiety as they packed in a flurry of motion. The tension in the air was so thick you could slice with a knife. Fang could sense the low morale among the flock.
He knew he had to do something about it. He grabbed a chair, climbed onto it and clapped to get everyone's attention.
Fang took a deep breath, and began his speech. "Guys, I know everyone is feeling down after the... previous encounter with Max. But you know Max wouldn't want us to be like this, she would want us to fight and bring her back. The Max that we faced isn't the real Max, that's Eraser Max. The real Max is stuck deep down, screaming to get out. And we have to help her to get out. We are going to go out there and find Max, and get her back. You hear me?"
"YEAH!" The flock cheered. It was just what they needed. Setting out with newfound DETERMINATION they spread their wings and flew.
...
In the weeks that the flock used for planning, Eraser Max kept breaking down Max, pushing her nearer and nearer to the edge of insanity. But what Eraser Max didn't know, was that the real Max, deep down, was pushing back.
And she was pushing hard.
...
On and on the flock searched, far and wide.
But eventually, even they needed a rest. They found a cave, and settled down at the entrance, and rested. As they were finishing up their dinner, they heard shuffling and crunching noises and the back of the cave.
Cautiously, they went over.
What they saw next gave them (a skele-ton of ;D) chills down to the bone.
It was Max, in human form. Her clothes were ripped and filthy, her hair limp and greasy, and she was covered in dirt from head to toe.
But what bothered them most, was her eyes. Oh, her eyes.
They lost their sparkle. Their stubborness, their defiance, their happiness, their love.
Her eyes were instead dull and glazed, and always moving left and right, up and down, like she was worried that something would come out of the shadows and attack her.
She was like a cornered animal, oh so vulnerable and fragile.
The sight of Max like that sent jabs of pain to Fang's heart. It hurt to see her like that, it really did.
Fang took a deep breath and squared his shoulders. She wouldn't be like that much longer. They would come and take her back home and clean her and hug her and tell her that they loved her. They had long forgiven her of what she did. They knew now that she wasn't in her right mind when she did that.
She would come back, and she would be okay.
"Max."
Max's eyes widened at the sound of Fang's voice, her head snapped up to face Fang. Growling, she backed away and transformed.
"Max-" Fang's voice cracked, "we're not going to hurt you."
Max stood there hesitantly for a second, like she believed it. Fang skipped a beat, was she going with them?
But all his hopes were dashed when she shook her head and swiped at them.
Fang easily dodged it. (LIKE A BOSS)
You could tell she was tired, even in her Eraser form she looked thinner and her attacks were half hearted, like she didn't have the energy to bother.
Soon she was kneeling on the ground panting, while the flock stood from afar, watching her warily. She transformed back into her human form, and took deep breaths, still kneeling.
Fang approached her, and squatted down.
"Max. We know you're in there. Fight it. We forgave you Max. We forgave you a long time ago. We know you weren't thinking when you did it. We love you Max. Please come back."
"..."
"Max please."
"I-I..."
"Max?"
"I-I'm sorry..."
"Oh Max..."
Fang went up to Max and engulfed her in a hug. Max leaned into his hug and started sobbing.
The tears that Fang held back came running down his cheeks in cascades.
Max was back.
A/N: Aw how sweet! Sorry for making you guys wait so long!
