The saviour angel

"I'm jumpin in there. I'm not gonna let her die! " Madeleine declared bravely, as she took off her jumper and climbed atop the railing of the bridge. They watched in disbelief as the heroic girl dressed in only a tank top and ripped jeans jumped off, plunging into the icy water. Shivering, but unafraid, she dived in to retrieve Alice who'd lost consciousness and had almost sunk to the bottom by then. Both the women resurfaced a while later and Madeleine held onto her as she fought against the current to finally bring her to shore. She dug her nails into the mud as she successfully scrambled to the shore, not caring whether she broke one of her manicured nails as long as her colleague was safe. 

A short while later, Martin and Deirdre reached the still unconscious Alice. Martin held her limp body close to provide warmth while attempting to resuscitate her. He heaved a sigh of relief as she finally came to and sputtered. He wrapped his jacket over her shoulders and helped her up. "Anyone remember to bring me my jumper? " an exhausted Madeleine asked pantingly, as she dusted mud off the seat of her jeans after Deirdre helped her to her feet. "Oh! Ere ya go! " a grateful Martin replied, handing her the jumper. "Thanks. Now, look away, perv! " she teased him, before putting it back on.

Matt was still slumped against the railing, in wait for news about his wife. He lit up on seeing her walking towards him- drenched from head to toe, but otherwise, quite all right. She fell to her knees, her teary eyes scanning him from his idle legs to his handsome face. He nuzzled her bruised neck as she pulled him into a hug. "Please forgive me. I wasn't myself..." he began to apologize, as she and his brother helped him to his feet. "Yea, no shit! " she joked, in order to lighten the mood. "You're back now...An' that's all that matters, hon! " she whispered after a pause, flashing him a relieved smile as she placed his arm around her shoulder in a supportive manner.
