Percy sat at her table, sipping on an ice tea nervously. Fifteen minutes, and no one was there for her 'blind date'. Percy was relieved, but also suspicious, while Thalia was looking around frantically for a boy hat was not already seated. She did have a few guys to put Percy with, but none wanted to be the first one to talk to her.
Luckily, a few minutes later, Dick's limo pulled up to the front of the restaurant. He walked in after thanking the driver, and once Thalia saw him, she flew at him.
"Please! Oh please, would you go sit with my friend over there on a date?" Thalia looked at Dick with pleading eyes and he was caught off guard. "U-uhh, sure. Where is she?" Thalia sighed in relief and pushed him over to where the tables were. She pointed to the table in the corner, next to the window. Dick looked, and then took a double-take, Percy was beautiful in his opinion. Why would she need her friend to find a date for her?
He walked over nervously, watching her as she looked out the window, like an animal in its natural habitat. She looked so at peace and relaxed, but also dangerous and cold.
Percy heard someone walk up to her table, but dismissed it as she looked at the people out on the street. She saw several people eating at an outdoor restaurant across the street from hers. A few people were dinning outside, including a cute couple that Percy wished was her. Sure, she was a single woman, but everyone wanted love at least once in their lives, right?
Percy whipped her head around, black locks flying, when she heard someone sit down in the seat across from her. The unknown man cleared his throat awkwardly. "So... What's your name?" Percy's lips tipped up in a small smile, but then fell back down when she saw Thalia give her a thumbs up. "Thalia sent you, didn't she?" It was more of a statement than a question, and both of them knew that. Dick nodded his head, Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed thickly. "I'm Dick Grayson." He held out his hand, accepting Percy's into his as a hand shake. "Percy. Percy Jackson." Dick raised his eyebrow slightly, thinking exactly what Percy wanted him to. Very James Bond of you. "Does Percy stand for something?" Percy gave him a level stare. "What do you think it stands for?" Duck reclined in his chair a bit. "Pricilla? Persephone? No? Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head." Percy playfully scoffed while Dick felt stupid. "Only two? Come on, it's Persia." Dick smiled. "Well, Miss Jackson, do you mind sharing some time with this poor fellow to bring happiness to his petty life?" Percy looked at Dick with challenging eyes, while he had a playful smirk on his lips. "Indeed. Let us begin with trivial facts of ourselves, shall we?" Percy and Dick shared in playful banter way past the time limit of their date. As much as Thalia had hated it, she went up to the table, only for both of them to shoo her away while they laughed. She then had to apologize to all of the deities and demigods wanting to try to court Percy. Leaving many people distraught and jealous of the man sitting in Percy's treasured presence. It was closer to ten at night when disaster struck.
The couple across the street that Percy had been envious of turned out to be the notorious Joker and Harley Quinn in disguise. They both tore off their wigs and wiped off their makeup in a dramatic fashion as the villains brought out their automatic rifles and began firing away.
Many people dove for cover under tables and behind cars while the restaurant across the street, that both heroes were sitting behind, was targeted. Many people scrambled away from the pelting gunfire as Dick dove for the bathroom, losing Percy in the mad fray. He quickly submerged his panic before tearing off his tuxedo, showing his superhero costume on underneath.
If Dick had looked for Percy, he wouldn't have even been able to get a glimpse of her, as she had booked it to the nearest dark alleyway at the first sound of gunshots. The demigoddess quickly slipped her special ring onto her finger before feeling the changes take place, although, for some odd reason, her shoes didn't change along with her other clothes. Percy was horrified as she looked down, but upon hearing more screams, kicked her body into gear and started running anyway. She (or rather, he) made it to the scene just as Robin appeared as well.
Both superheroes took a second to assess the other- duly noting the odd parts of either, as the hair style and high heels were not practical for fighting- but both quickly dispersed the thoughts from their minds upon seeing the big bad villain himself reappear.
The Joker spun around, laughing wildly and firing in no particular place while Harley jumped out moments later, aiming directly at the two new arrivals. "Hey Puddin', I'm goin' to send these filthy animals some metal love, you up for it?" Joker only stopped his twirling for a second to look at Harley and then continued to spin. "I'll wait for Batsy. You just light 'em up!"
Both heroes shared a look before simultaneously running towards the villains. Working to dodge the bullets, Robin could not help but realize this was not his forte. The other hero helping him seemed to not be hindered by the heels at all, as he whirled and whipped around the bullets with the grace of a winding river.
Neither villain seemed to care, as Harley and Joker continued to run around and duck behind cars in the street, not letting the two masked men get near them.
After many minutes of using his lighting fast reflexes to dodge the raining hell fire that were Joker and Harley's submachine guns, Percy finally grew tired of wearing the restricting heels and tumbled behind a conveniently-placed car. Ripping the heels off of his feet without even a wince at the pain, Percy quickly surged to his bare feet and tore back out and around the car, leaving the heels to lay on the ground.
Cape swishing dramatically behind him, Percy realized that he and the other hero were making no progress, and civilians were getting more hurt by the second. They needed a solid plan, and they needed it as quickly as possible.
Reaching into his belt and grabbing a small pearl, Percy lobbed it straight into Robin's chest, were it smashed and created a glittering shield around his body. "C'mon! The pearl creates a barrier strong enough to deflect bullets!"
Without a glance back to his new partner, Percy charged at Harley, though still dodging the bullets as he went, before a sparkle started to light up Harley's eyes. "Bullet proof, huh? We'll see about that." She cackled manically and used one hand to fire in the direction of a charging Robin while she had her bat in the other. As Percy got within striking range, Harley struck out like a coiled viper, swinging the baseball bat around like a whip, only, it never made contact.
As Harley grew frustrated with Percy's continued dodges, Robin came up behind her to get within her guard and punched her square in the back of the head. A loud 'crack' was heard as Harley's skull snapped forwards, before she went limp.
Just as Percy caught the unconscious form, a blob of darkness seemed to split itself from the shadows and Robin breathed a sigh of relief. Percy stiffened while the Joker realized their newest guest and cackled with insane glee.
"Batsy, Batsy, Batsy. You came! I just knew you would!" The newly-identifier Batman swooped down from his perch on the top of the destroyed restaurant with his black cape flying. He did not so much as glance at Joker before quickly walking over to Percy and latching bat-cuffs to his wrists. The demigod silently worked on his cuffs as the millionaire turned his glare from him to his approaching protege.
"Next time," he said roughly. "Use your comm before going into a fight." Robin bowed his head in acknowledgment, annoyed and just a little bit embarrassed at having forgotten to comm his father.
Percy silently thanked Hermes for his training before slipping the batcuffs off of his wrists and taking advantage of the Joker's sadness. Using his vapor travel, Percy appeared above the Joker and tackled him to the ground, though the man was still looking heartbrokenly at Batman.
"Batsy, do our fights really mean nothing to you? I thought I was your arch nemesis? Why'd you ignore me in favor of this kid?" The millionaire looked at Percy with suspicion, but replied to the Joker's question nonetheless. "I fight around."
Tears welled in the Joker's eyes while his face grew hot in anger. He began yelling at Batman, struggling underneath the hold of the demigod above him. "I outta sick Harley on you, you bastard! After all this time, and it meant nothing?! I have up my very reputation to fight you, but you repay me with this?! I-"
Percy cut the insane man off with a grimace by tearing a piece of cloth off of his cape and sticking it in his mouth like a gag. Quickly grabbing the batcuffs Batman had tried to put on him, Percy applied them to the Joker's wrists and leapt off the squirming man.
Seeming the situation cleared of danger, Percy turned to leave, only to hear a mad cackle behind him once again.
"Until next time, Batsy!"
A purple canister with a smile on it dropped to the floor and began leaking a green colored gas that both Bats recognized as Joker's special laughing gas.
Before either heroes had time to shield themselves, the gas was swirled up into a water vortex that had appeared out of nowhere and appeared to dissolve into the water before the vortex disappeared. The laughing gas was not the only thing to have gone, as The Joker was no where to be seen.
Percy disappeared down a dark alleyway and vapor traveled back to his apartment soon after that, not willing to stay there and be interrogated by Batman.
Meanwhile, Batman silently stewed as he called the Bat-mobile towards him. Within moments, he opened the back, slung Harley in roughly, and slipped into his seat, not one word said to his sidekick in the back.
It was uncomfortably silent on the way to their cave with Dick feeling guilty about how he left Persia behind and Bruce strategizing ways to capture the unknown vigilante.
When Percy reappeared in his apartment, he let out a sigh and took off his ring. Flopping back on her bed, Persia smiled at the feeling of her muscles relaxing and her mind drifting off to sleep.
