Fidget Brain

CHAPTER ONE

-Matts POV-
I woke up to the sound of my phone alarm going off. I rub my eyes then start the search for my glasses which are on the desk beside my bed. Eventually I find them and put them on.
"Maaaatttttt!" I heard a familiar voice. I turn to look at my door and see my little sister Katie looking slightly annoyed.
"What is it Katie?" I ask groggily.
"Hurry up! We're gonna be late because of you."
I check my phone and it read 7:08 A.M. Surely enough if I don't hurry we will be late.
I jump out of bed and walk into the bathroom and start brushing my teeth and hair. After I'm done with that, I put on my NASA hoodie since it'll be cold this morning.
Katie is waiting for me by the door and as soon as she see's me she goes outside. I follow after her while grabbing my book bag and fixing my glasses.
We walk to the bus stop, hell two as I like to call it. By the time we make it to the stop the jocks are already there.
"Hahaha look! It's the tall nerd and his little baby sister!" says one of them. The others laugh in agreement, saying a few extra words.
Katie walks closer to me and grabs my arm tightly and smiles at me as a attempt to cheer me up. I smile back and ruffle her hair.
"H-hey! What was that about?! " she muttered angrily.
The bus soon came and we walked on and sat down. Katie sat down beside some kid wearing a pair of headphones. She always said his name was Keith. I never met him myself but he seems like a loner in my eyes.
I also decide to put on my headphones. I grab my phone and start playing some Hoosiers. I smiled to myself and before I knew it we were at hell. Everyone exited the bus and I walk to the little café we had and ordered a coffee since I forgot to eat breakfast this morning.
I yawn and pay the cashier then take my coffee. It was still hot since it was freshly made and it warmed up my fingers. I took a sip and looked up and almost spat it out. Shiro and his girlfriend, Allura were walking down the hallway. Shiro was that one Jock guy everyone loves. The most popular, most attractive guy.
I sigh hopelessly. I was that one kid who was in love with the jock. I've never been in a relationship before so I just consider myself a hopeless romantic. I shrug it off and walk to my first class which was science. Science is my favorite subject, it's just so interesting!
I walk into the classroom and set everything on my desk. Within minutes the bell rings and Mr. Coran walks in while pinching his mustache.
"Okay guys!," He says in a excited tone "we're going to start our astronomy projects! So everyone find a partner, it's a group project. The rubrics will be on the table up here."
'Crap' I think to myself. Everyone already had partners except one person.
Shiro.
I think he saw me looking at him so he walks over to me with the papers in his hands.
"Hey Matt," he said with a strong tone. "Do you wanna be partners?"
My heart starts racing. The Shiro wants to be partners with, me?
"Don't you want to be partners with Allura?" I say and point towards his girlfriend.
"Well, uh." He scratched the back of his head, "Since you're like super smart and stuff I wanted to be your partner. I'm like flunking my classes and I was also wondering if you can help me study and, uh, teach me i guess.." he looked at me, his eyes full of hope.
My eyes widened "Y-yeah! Sure then. I'll be glad to help!" By now my heart was pounding out of my chest.
'Oh my god, Shiro is my partner for our science project!'
He smiles and sits down beside me. "Thank you Matt. This will mean a lot to me." He turns and looks at me. "Hey how about I come to your house after school so we can work on it there?"
"I, uh, yeah that's fine." I managed to spit out. I was already freaking out that he was my partner, now he's wants to come to my house?!
He gives me a pat on the back. "Hey don't look to scared. I'll just ride the bus home with ya."
I nodded. "We should start working now." He agreed and I fixed my glasses.
Today is going to be crazy.
