P A N I M U L A | C a s t i n g  C a l l s

Ang buhay ay isang napakahabang pila ng pag-aaudition.

No matter how much you wait, no matter how much you prepare,

In the end, wala paring kasiguraduhan kung matatanggap ka o hindi.

There's no guarantee if you'll succeed or fail.

"Number 510! Please standby."

Narinig kong sigaw ng isa sa mga staff habang iniikot ang kaniyang paningin sa mga taong nakaupo sa waiting area. Hala ako na pala. I raised my hand to let him know. Tumango ang staff in response sa pag taas kong kamay. Agad na akong tumayo sa kinauupuan ko. sabay pagpag sa maroon skirt na suot ko. Sa wakas, after five hours of waiting, ako narin ang sasabak sa audition. Hindi ko alam kung pangilang pila o pangilang casting na itong inattendan ko, pero it still feels like I'm doing it for the first time.

Tinahak ko na ang daan patungo sa may entrance, at lumapit sa isa mga salamin para magretouch. Ang lamig naman dito. May aircon rin naman yung waiting area pero mas malamig dito. Nanginginig kong inapply sa mukha ko ang konting foundation at pinahid ko na rin ang red matte lipstick sa mga labi ko. Yan, match na ang mga labi ko sa kulay ng damit ko. I'm wearing a maroon crop top and a high waist skirt. Pulang-pula na ako.

Here it goes! Konting inuto nalang at matatapos na rin ang nag-aaudition sa loob and the staffs will soon witness an amazing performance by this lovely girl infront of the mirror. Kaya mo yan Phylis! Nothing could possibly go wrong! Basta always remember to be calm at all times, you know what happens when you get super nervous right? You turn into something unpleasant kaya keep calm!

"Adobong Manok!" sigaw ko sabay taas ng kamay ko. Do not misunderstood. This is my way of releasing tension, shouting something I'm craving for. Sari-sariling trip lang yan you know.

"What the heck? Gutom ka ba?" napalingon ako nang marinig ko ang staff na tumawag sakin. Just when I'm talking about how to not misunderstood. Hays.

"Ahhh! Hindi po. Just trying to calm myself down." nagpilit ako ng ngiti. Shemay, nakakahiya. The staff looked at me like I'm some weird piece of poop. Pero he soon got to his senses and went back to doing his job.

"number 510?" tiningnan niya kaagad yung numerong nakadikit sa parteng ibaba ng top ko to confirm. Tumango siya ng makita ang number na nakadikit sa'kin.

"You're up. Please enter the room"

Tumango nalang ako. Eto na talaga, please lang talaga sana things go my way this time. I have practiced so much for this casting event and I know I did a pretty decent job. This could be my big break, and I'll do anything necessary to get that role.

I started to walk towards the room. Mukhang di na ako kinakabahan.Pero syempre joke lang ang lahat ng pinagsasabi ko. Dahil as soon as I took three steps forward towards the door, my heart started to beat fast. My body shivered like I was poured ice cold water, at parang nagbavibrate ang buong katawan ko  while having goosebumps all over my body. I started to sweat real quick at parang nagpapanic na ang buong pagkatao ko. All the confidence I have been saving up earlier has been swept away completely. That confident state I was in kanina is completely gone.
