Wack! My hand went across Jake’s face. How could he do this to me? I have been having a hard time finding a boyfriend to replace Rydian, but none of them had ever cheated on me before. I turned and ran. I ran towards the bar where Storm was having a glass of Champaign starring at the sparkling disco ball and Aidan was trying to talk to the barmen about cars.

“We’re leaving!” I shouted trying to be heard above the music of the club. Grabbing Storm’s wrist, almost making her drop her drink, I pulled her to the exit, Aidan slowly following behind.

“What’s going on?” he cried trying to catch up. I pretended I didn’t hear him. We got to the parking lot and climbed into the bright red open top Pergo.

“What happened Star, what’s wrong?” Storm asked her voice trying to be friendly but I could tell she was annoyed from being pulled away from her night out, so early. I said nothing, wiping my eyes with my designer cardy. She knew I didn’t want to talk, at leather not now, but Aidan can never get a hint.

“So what happened in there Star Why did you pull us out?” Aidain asked pretending to be nice. I stayed silent.

“Tell me. Why are you in such a mood?” I still gave no reply. We all went quiet as Aidan started the car and stayed quiet for the whole ride back to the beach house. It was a beautiful beach house. It was painted bright red and had some faint pencil marks of kids drawing from the owners before us. I rushed out of the car and ran to the door, felling stupid when I remembered it was locked. I waited there my arms folded, awquardly, until Aidan got out of the car and slowly unlocked the door. He was doing it on purpose to annoy me.

“Is horrid being a vampire, but it is even worse when you are being such... such a... an idiot!” I yelled angrily just wanting to go into my room and be alone. I know it wasn’t the best insult I could come up with. I can come up with a lot worse, however I was upset and tiered and could do without his stupid so called humour making me feel even worse. As soon as the door was unlocked I pushed past the others and ran into my bedroom and jumped onto my pink and black chequered bed. I heard my door open and then close again. It was Storm. I called her in, as she sat next to me on the end of my bed and I explained what happened.

“Don’t worry. It’s ok.” She said as if it was an everyday thing.

“It’s not ok!” I yelled back. Feeling my rage unleash.

“He said he loved me and then goes and kisses this other girl right in front of me! You don’t understand.” I started crying again.

“I know I don’t understand.” She said standing up to walk out, she was so calm even though I was so angry. I reached out and grabbed my jar. It was a large, plane see through jar which used to be a giant jam jar I won from a fair. Inside it was a pill of dust. Some people may say it is weird to keep dust in a jar but this was no ordinary dust. It was Rydian! A year ago. A year with no one to love. A year with the worst magic in the world, because you see I have the kiss! The kiss is a dark magic when a vampire like me has the power to turn their enemy’s into dust just with one little kiss. I felt special to have this power, but it was unfair. I tried an online dating site after Rydian’s death, it didn’t work out! I could date, but I couldn’t kiss. I was so scared that I would fall in love, kiss someone and then it would all end.

I decided I was sick of Storm and Aidan. I jumped out of bed grabbed my black silk jacket and ran out of my room. Storm and Aidan were no-where in sight the only sign that they were still in the house was their voices whispering in their bedroom thinking I was asleep. I tip toed through the kitchen and out the back door. As soon as I was on the dark midnight beach I jumped into the air and turned into my bat form. A cute tiny vampire bat with small wings and strip of pink fur around the top of my head. I flew into our small Hawaiian town and towards the coconut bar my favourite bar in the whole of Hawaii.
