The doctor's anger over the situation was palatable to the mood in the room. He looked upon the assistant manager of the bank with nothing short of pure unadulterated anger.
"Mr. Sawgrass I blame you and this bank for the total incompetence of what is going on!" He said with venom. "You took unsubstantiated rumors and put a young girl on a wanted list that never existed."
"I beg your pardon!" Sawgrass gasped.
"You took the word of a criminal and denied Simeneon the chance at survival. You do realize she has gone missing and with her money now unavailable to her you have given the forces of evil a realistic chance of hunting her down and, well, I don't want to think of what they'll do to her. All because your bank neglected to dig deeper into this whole affair. I am appalled." The doctor said as he approached the now cowering man.
"I am not the one who gave that order." He said as he quailed before them.
"But you are the one that can rescind it?" The doctor asked.
"With both the manager Marchaud and the assistant manager of an administration gone from the premises, you have that power." Mr. Guile said interrupting the two.
Sawgrass looked at the head of security with malice in his eyes before responding to Dr. Miller. "Even if I could, and I won't wait until the conclusion of this mess. Marchaud took the combination to the safe, and we have no way of getting inside."
"You must have safeguards in place in case a manager is indisposed?" The doctor asked his anger rising with every word out of this arrogant man's mouth.
"We have implemented those safeguards as you called them and we're working on getting the safe open so we can inventory the contents." He tried to step around the doctor, but he refused to move.
"I have a great influence with other members of this bank and with one word from me I could get at least half of your clientele to take their business elsewhere. If you would like to tell the shareholders why so many customers have left on your watch, I suggest you expedite the paperwork to allow Simeneon access to her money. These are not idle threats my friend. I will go over your head. So if you insist on throwing your weight around at me, you'll be sadly and irreparably sorry!" He then moved aside to allow the now shaking man to pass. Sawgrass shuffled off to the back where he disappeared amongst the throng of people moving excitedly amongst the room.
"What an arrogant man," Fin said as he looked up at the doctor. "What now?"
"I do believe this is more complicated than we can handle. It's time to call in the cavalry." The doctor said then walked from the room in search of a telephone.
"Who is he going to contact?" Mr. Guile asked coming up beside Fin.
"I believe he's going to bring in the only people that can help us find Simeneon and keep her safe," Fin said weakly.
"And that would be?" Guile said watching the doctor pick up a phone in the other room.
"The Brothers of the Light," Fin said then smiled weakly.
"Pardon me?" Guile asked with a quizzical look crossing his hardened face.
"They're an ancient sect of warriors from as far back as the great emperor Raheme. Since his death, the Brothers of the Light were created to protect the descendants of the emperor, as you've probably guessed Simenon is that descendant. So whatever Marchaud has done he has no clue to who he has annoyed. Even though Simeneon is alone now, she isn't really." Fin looked up at the giant man and sighed.
