The doctor entered the room saw Dimitri was sitting up although looking a bit rough and smiled warmly.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, concern tinting his voice.
"I have felt worse," his voice a little gravelly but strong in comparison.
Doctor Miller stepped up to the bed and placed fingers on the man's wrist and looking at his watch to check his heart rate. "You have pain?"
Dimitri looked at him and smiled, "Pain is not too bad, believe me, I've dealt with worse down in the dungeons."
"I can't imagine the ordeal you had to deal with down in the bowels of their prisons." The doctor said sympathetically.
"You lose all sense of time down there they treat you like garbage. The rats are treated better at least they like the slop that passes as food." He hesitated for a moment as he peered down at his hands. "I wanted to thank you for saving my life, very since I lost my wife and child no one has shown me the dignity you have."
"It's my pleasure dignity should be everyone's right." He patted him on the shoulder and turned to leave.
"Please, may I talk to you?" Dimitri asked urgently.
"...Of course." Doctor Miller moved back to the side of the bed and pulled up a small chair from the corner.
"This little girl you speak of, this Simeneon Enchantment, is she here?" Dimitri was urgent in his asking.
The doctor sighed deeply and shook his head, "She has been missing now for months, and we have no idea where she is."
Dimitri looked furtively at the doctor and sighed. "It's important I talk to her something is going on that I don't understand."
"We've been in this with her now for three years, and it started when I met her for the first time, she'd been on her own for months. We've become quite the family, my boy Fin and me there." He pointed into the living room where Fin was munching on a bowl of popcorn that could feed six.
"-You must be so proud?" Dimitri smiled.
"I was never afforded a child of my own but since the two of them have entered my life I've felt something I've never known before. Caring for someone else and not just myself, the two of them have brought life back into my life, something that has been missing for a long time."
"That was the same when my wife and child were alive. Everything I did, I did for them, but after they had died, well my life was not my own anymore. Since that day I've lived a life of a man with no direction, but down in those dungeons I had time to think, and I kept my eyes and ears open to any information that I came across. One day just before I escaped I heard a voice through the vent telling another of something called the Book of Shadows?"
"I have no idea what that is?" The doctor said nervously.
"Neither do I but the others in the realm are very interested in it and by how excited they were talking about it is key to what they are planning." Dimitri shook his head in frustration. "If they get hold of that book... well, I don't know what'll happen."
The doctor sat thinking for a few moments asked a question. "I've heard rumblings in the wind about something happening in the other realm, something chaotic."
"I heard whispering that the world over there is not a happy one as decisions made incorrectly, and orders are being messed up. There is a rumbling that the overlord is disappointed with leadership and new ones groomed for the position..."
