"Noooooooo..." Mogat screamed. Simeneon disappeared in a blink of an eye and withing seconds she was out of sight.
The wind rushed by and he knew it to be cold as in the background the white capped mountains of the frontier beckoned. The blackness in the storm approaching from the northwest and the flicker of lightning throughout its interior reflected the mood on the train. Mogat felt nervousness running through his corporeal body knowing his time here might have come to an end, but something deep inside told him it was far from over.
A chuckle erupted from deeper in the cab, and Mogat took his eyes from the surroundings to the interior darkness.
"And what may I ask are you laughing at?" He asked angrily.
Sly stepped from the shadows his burnt face glistening with sweat and a crooked smile spreading across his cracked lips. "Seems that your golden girl has decided to end the torment."
"...And why would that be something to laugh at?" He hissed.
He snickered again. "Because that little girlie had been a pain in my ass for years now."
Mogat hovered towards him. "That little girl has been through so much more than you could ever imagine!" He yelled.
"Are you kidding me? Look at me you ass, banished from my world because of her!" He stammered.
"You brought this whole thing upon yourself! If you had taken a path of enlightenment, you wouldn't have fallen into the dark." Mogat said his face within a few inches of Sly's.
"Light? What light Never been offered to me since I was a kid." He hissed.
"I've seen your life, you've never given anyone a chance to get close to you. Everyone who's tried you've pushed away telling yourself that they never wanted to be with you in the first place. If you had only stopped and thought about others your life would have taken another turn, and the love you've always craved could have been yours."
Sly stood transfixed, the smile on his face disappearing to a frown. "What do you know?" He growled.
Mogat stared into the eyes of Sly. "I've been around for thousands of years waiting for the time when I could be useful again. I've seen generations come and go and I've seen more love and lose then you could ever imagine. I've witnessed men hide behind their convictions as if what they believe is truth. Hordes of men with weak minds that follow tyrants they know deep down they cannot survive, for what? Because they want to belong, they want to have a purpose in life, isn't it about time that your purpose in life is something that can benefit this world and not tear it apart?"
The cracked skin on Sly's face was starting to turn red at the edges staring into the eyes Mogat. "What do you know what I want? You think you know me? I do what I want, and no one tells me what to do. As for making a difference, I do what I need to do in this world; no one is going to give it to me for free."
Mogat moved away from Sly and headed back to the opening, he turned back and motioned Sly over to his side. Sly hesitated a moment then pulled the blanket around himself a little more. He shuffled over to Mogat and stood beside him the wind rushing by the train whipping his blanket around his ankles.
"What is it?" Sly asked in frustrated anger.
"It's time you made a difference. " Mogat said.
"What?" His face etched with confusion.
Electrical energy appeared around the hands of the great wizard, and Sly with fascination saw the opaque nature of the man's hands begin to clear and become solid. Sly stared in fascination until the hands moved with lightning speed and grabbed his arms.
