Cake Pops

I wake up to the beeping sound of my annoying alarm. 4:30 am as usual for the nice, beautiful day. I turn my alarm off and quickly fall to my knees to pray,as usual.

After getting ready I grab a banana and head off to the car to head to seminary. Seminary is like a bible study class for Mormons. It is usually before school, or a class taken in Utah. I live in Texas so, before school it is for me.

Once I'm in the car I drive to the church building listening to nice music to get me more awake. Reaching the church always makes me smile because I can have peace for a while. I frown to the thought that it only lasts an hour and then I have to go to school.

I walk out of my warm car and out into the nice fall weather. I reached the doors to the church and opened them to feel a nice warm, cozy temperature. Rachel stands there talking to Amy about the algebra homework. "Hey guys, what's up?" I ask walking up to them with the best smile I can hold.

"Oh hey Emily!" Amy says smiling,"just talking about the homework from Friday." She says holding up the math worksheet. I look at the scribbles and random writing on the paper laughing a little to myself.

"Oh okay, I hope you get it done before class." I giggled to her as I walked into the room for seminary. As always, I'm greeted with a hug from the seminary teacher Sister Walsten. Her warm hug makes me feel a little more happy on the inside. I smile and walk to my seat for the lesson to begin.

Seminary ended so fast it felt like Christmas Day when you open the presents. Fast. I frowned that I had to leave to school.

Walking out to the sunrise isn't all that bad. I get into my car and start the heat as fast as I could. I know it's Texas but, I get cold even at 60 degrees.

The drive to school is pretty fast, only about five minutes. Once reaching to the school I sigh in grief. Only seven hours I told myself. Seven hours.

Tugging on my cardigan as I walk to the school I start to worry for all the unexpected things to happen today. I don't like surprises at all. They make me nervous. If a teacher calls on me and I don't know, I freak out and always, always end up saying something stupid in front of the whole class.

Walking through the hallways I get some "hey Emilys" and head nods. I smile back at them and continue to walk to my locker. I wasn't so lucky with my locker this year, I was placed right next to Brendon.

Brendon has brown hair with hazel eyes. He is the definition of a "jock". I haven't had the chance to speak to him all year because he usually comes to his locker with some friends so, I never have the chance to speak to him. He is in my cooking class also but again, it doesn't matter because we don't even sit by eachother.

Opening up my locker I get my binders needed for my class and and close it and begin to walk away. I turn out of the locker when I bump into a hard surface. I look up shocked to see the one and only Brendon standing there. Well, I guess this is my opportunity. "I'm so sorry." I say moving out of the way.

"Don't worry about it." He stops and thinks for a second," Emily?" He says with a questioning face. I smile and nod. He walks toward his locker and I walk toward class. Well, I guess I can call him an acquaintance now. I smile at that thought.

All my classes till lunch were boring. I walked to the cafeteria playing with the ring on my finger. It's a nervous habit of mine. I don't really know why I do it but, I do it. I walk to the table I usually sit at and enjoy my lunch talking with my friends about there, and my day.

"Okay you guys" Amy started to say,"I got at 73% on my math homework!" She said feeling accomplished. I started to laugh at that."I did about 73% better than what I thought I would get!" She said loud and proud. The table started to laugh and, Amy joined in the laughing also.

"Amy, if you ever need help just ask me" I said to her as she smiled and shock her head. I returned the smile and went back to eating the rest of my lunch, which consisted of a pb&j sandwich with a protein bar.

Lunch ended to fast and the rest of the school day went by fast. I walked into my last period which was cooking. My favorite class to be in. I sat in my seat pulling out my binder ready for directions.

"Good after noon class" mr Martin began,"today we are starting on a project!" He said proudly. The class sighed and I listened closely. "You may have one partner!" He said with a smile. I looked toward Rachel and smile. "Stop getting excited. I will be choosing your partners!" He also added. The class got silent and groaned.

He stated to pair up kids. I heard different reactions from everyone some happy, some unsure, and some were complaining. I heard my name from the teacher. "Emily and Brendon" I wasn't sure how to feel. A part of me was excited to walk with him but, I would most likely be doing all the work so, a part of me wasn't thrilled.

"You are to make any dessert and it is due on Wednesday." The teacher said sitting down. I looked toward Brendon to see him playing on his phone. I nervously walked toward him and waited until he looked up from his phone.

"What would you like to make Brendon?" I asked as he turned off his phone and looked toward me. He thought for a minute and then smiled at me.

"Cake pops" he said with a smile. I thought over it and, it didn't seem so hard to do.

"Okay, cake pops it is." I smiled and went to work. To my surprise he actually helped but, we didn't really say anything to each other then what flavor and frosting recipe.

The bell rang and I was finally free from school. The drive home was easy and before I knew it, I was going to sleep for the next day's adventures.
