Kaitlyn's point of view

Its been several months and we found out like two months ago that Sophia passed away and was in a barn the whole time. At the moment, we were locked inside while the others went looking for Randall, a young boy we are keeping captive for no reason. The only reas-

"Checkmate! I got your king!" Carl cheered as I groaned.

"I hate you." I said as Kaylee came to us, playing with her necklace.

"Today I talked to Carol. She is still healing but she gave me this." Kaylee showed us the ring. Carl seemed upset and I just didn't show emotion. I got up and looked through the windows and once I turned around Carl was gone.

"Kaylee?" I asked as she went upstairs.

"What?" She asked me.

"Are we going after him?" I ask and she nods. We go and slip out the window he did and he turned around to see us.

"You guys stay or go to the barn. If something goes wrong you guys need to lay low." He says and we nod. As he climbs off the roof, we stay there, sitting on the attic window.

"I love you." Kaylee says and I smile as I take her pinky finger.

"I love you too, Kaylee. Never change. Stay Gold." I tell he as she looks at me and giggles.

"You read The Outsiders?" She asked as she realized I quoted it.

"Some parts." I said.

"Kaylee, Kaylee we need to go.. look!" I pointed and her smile dropped. About 300 walkers appeared and thats when a gun shot went off.

"In the barn!" I said and I climbed off. It was Kaylee's turn but she missed a step and her leg got caught in the ladder. She winced in pain as she fell back as I tried to help her. I saw the monsters getting closer and grabbed Kaylee by the hip. She leaned on me for support and we went to the barn.

We got on top as we took a second to look at her leg.

"Are you okay?" I asked and it was purple and yellow bruised, with blood coming out from a gash on the bottom of the ankle.

"Do I look okay? They can probably smell this. Lets go!" She said until the doors went open. It was Carl and Rick.

"Kaitlyn, hop from here, we got them distracted, warn the others." Rick said. I helped Kaylee up as she flinched.

"Leave her here. Me and Carl will get her! Go!" Rick yelled as he started talking to carl. I grabbed Kaylee's face and stroked her hair as if saying 'goodbye' and then hopped out. I made a run to the house and saw them outside.

"R-Rick and Carl are in the barn! With K-Kaylee and told me to tell you guys to start leaving." I panted, out of breath.

"No way in hell am I not going to help." Daryl said and picked up a gun and his crossbow.

"Why didn't Kaylee come with you?" Glenn asked as I looked back nervously.

"She got her leg pretty cut up. Its all bruised and blood gushy. Im not sure if she can walk or run." I said as Glenn sighed.

"Well we need to help her. Im going around in the car, she needs help." He said as I shook my head.

"Rick said he has her." I said as the barn went up in flames. I turned around and the walkers were very close. Gunshots went off and people started running to the cars, dying. I picked up the gun T-dog gave me and headed to the barn but got dragged with Daryl.

"You ain't gettin' hurt. Not on my watch." Daryl said as I sighed.

"Drop me off at the house." I said. As I got off the bike, I ran inside. I got most of my belongings and Kaylee's and put them in the car.

"Hershel! Come on!" I screamed as saw Kaylee by herself. I ran to her and she was trying to keep balance.

"I don't know where Rick and Carl went!" She said and saw Andrea. She started going to her and I covered for her until the walkers got to Andrea. The blue truck then drove off and I didn't see Kaylee anymore. I just heard a scream. I started running to the scream when Rick shoved me in the car. As he turned the engine on, Hershel and Carl got in.

"I think they got Kaylee." I cried as Carl turned around quickly.

"What. No, they can't. She is my girlfriend, dad!" He yelled but Rick looked down and kept driving.

Once we got to the highway , everybody got out except me. I messed with my bracelet and then cars and trucks started coming. I got down and everybody else did. Families ran to families and thats when I realized that she was gone. I started crying and Carl came hug me, and I know he was crying too.

"Where is Andrea?" Maggie asked.

"Saw her go down." Carol said.

"Kaylee? Where is she? Where is Kaylee, Kaitlyn?" Glenn asked and I cried.

"I don't know. They all jumped on top of her and I heard the screams. Im sorry." I cried, knowing Kaylee and Glenn had a very strong bond. Glenn stayed quiet, almost as if he wasn't excepting it.

"We need to go back, did you see her die or just see them fall on her?" Glenn asked.

"I-I didn't see her die. Or Andrea." I stuttered as Glenn and Daryl went to the car.

"No! No! We stay here. They are dead or made it out. We are not going back, they won't be there." Rick spoke.

"She's my best friend! She has been my best friend for about 10 years, shes basically my sister." I cried.

"It was my fault, Kaitlyn. If I didn't leave the house, you guys wouldn't have had to jump down the roof and now she is dead." Carl told me.

By night time we were all sitting around the fire in a small gated place. I was laying in Lori's lap while she stroked my hair. The whole group was arguing as I tried to avoid most of it.

"Nobody is going anywheres." Rick says.

"Do something!" Carol yells at him.

"I am doing something! I'm keeping this group together. Alive. I've been doing that all along, no matter what. I didn't ask for this. I killed my best friend for you people for Christ sake." Rick tells us. Everybody gasp or cries, including me.

"You saw what he was like. How he pushed me. How he compromised us. How he threatened us. He staged the whole Randall thing, led me out to put a bullet in my head. He gave me no choice. He was my friend but he came after me. My hands are clean. Maybe you people are better off without me. Go ahead. I say there's a place for us but maybe that's just a pipe dream. Maybe I fooled myself again. Why don't you go and find out yourself. Send me a postcard. Go on there's the door. You can be better? Let's see how far you get. No takers? Fine. But let me get one thing straight, this isn't a democracy anymore." Rick finished his speech. Everybody was blown away but I was fine. Our group deserved that.
