The sounds of Sirens roared behind the two girls as they ran into the woods, "Thank god the Feds didn't see our faces" Ryder was out of breathe.  "All for a few packs of Cancer sticks and a case of beer" Ryder added "Worth it" Darby Giggled

both of the girls giggled as they sat down under a tree, each opening a can of beer. Along with lighting a cigarette..

"I really don't want to go home" Ryder broke down as her voice cracked she gulped more beer down her throat.

"I know" Darby comfort her in a hug... Feeling her back was full of whip marks from her Aunt.

After the hug Darby had an Idea  "Hey let's get drunk and not go home." "Do you think we will ever get out of the town" Ryder asked Darby thought about it for a moment... "Maybe" She thought laying back looking at the night sky now... The stars were bright on nights like this.

"My brother left me with a deadbeat father, so if he could we probably could" Darby sigh.

"Do you miss him" Ryder asked

Darby slowly sat up looking at her emotionless... " That was years ago I could care less" She swig the can she recently just opened.

Darby light up another cigarette, She smiled at Ryder her best friend since they were kids. "So are you staying the night here"

Ryder nodded as she cuddle closer to her best friend.

the girls had only a couple of packs of cigarettes left from what they have stolen. the sun shined brightly toward their faces, Causing Darby to flutter her eyes open "Ryder" She shook her friend. " Time to wake up" She chuckled.  Ryder opened her eyes and started to rub them "What time is it" She whined " Early" Darby Sarcastically smirked causing Darby to playfully punch her arm.

"Come" Darby held her hand out, helping Ryder to stand up.

the girls were walking out of the woods, Ryder held on to her pack of cigarettes handing it over to Darby "Here" She smiled Darby looked at her confused... " I don't need it" She smiled as Darby grabbed it and watched her Best friend walk towards her house. They were like sisters.. she knew something was up with her. Must be fear of her Aunt punishing her for not coming home...

When Darby made it home the house was empty, She sigh in relief going up upstairs to shower.

After her shower she was drying her hair when the phone rang. She answered it as fast as she could "Hello" Ryder scared voice cracked as she said " Darby, Pack your things... My Aunt died" Darby could have sworn she heard a hint of excitement in her voice.

"What happened?" Darby asked in panic. " She was yelling at me about being late and she hit me a few times. she had a heart attack." Ryder explain kind of like we are missing a key to the story.

"Runaway to Tulsa Oklahoma, When you can... That's where they are bringing me to." She Whispered into the phone.

"I can't just go you know that!" Darby whined "Please" Ryder begged...Darby sigh as she rubbed her face in frustration... she didn't want to tell Ryder no... "I'll see what I can do" She lied...

They hung up the phone with each other...  "Ryder what did you do?" She sigh... "Darby what the fuck!"  Her dad voice roared from down stairs "What dad" Darby walked down stairs aggravated.

"It's Seven in the Morning" He growled at her. "So" She huffed at him... " I'm too hung over to deal with your bullshit" Her dad threw his hands up going towards the kitchen.  "So am I" Darby huffed.

Later that day Darby Door was being knocked on, when she opened it she saw her best friend Ryder all Packed up and ready to go... "Hey Darby smiled "I'm leaving" Ryder frowned... Darby hugged her dearest friend, "Good luck" She whispered in her friend's ear.

"I'm going to meet my long lost brother, Johnny I think his name was" She chuckled Darby nodded hugging her once more. she waved as she drove out of the drive way.

Later that Night Darby's dad was drinking heavily again... He got very Aggressive with Darby, constantly punching her, chocking her... kicking her as well when she was already on the ground.  "Darby my worthless kid just like your loser Brother" He scolded.

Darby Dealt with this for years, this constant beatings from her father... the name calling and other disappointment comments.

She thought "Should I run away to Tulsa?"
