Their Forever

The next chapter

Bella's pov
My life couldn't be more perfect.
Wonderful husband, beautiful daughter and loving family. The threats to my perfect little world are over, at least for now. While currently safe I know that it can only last so long, the voltori will find another reason to come after us, but when they do we'll be ready. It's been just over a year since they came and we're shown their fate if they chose to continue in their plans, there's been no worrying decisions made and Alice hasn't seen anything we should be concerned about since so for the mean time we're going to enjoy our family and continue with our lives.

Renesmee now has the appearance of a 12 year old and we're expecting her growth to slow down a lot, while her first year was spent ageing years in just a matter of months, Carslile said that this should slow and she'll only be ahead by a few months of the average human. Due to this fast growth she was never able to go to school and with us staying in forks to be near Charlie and Jake we didn't want to risk people asking questions. But with this becoming less of an issue we decided she could join Forks High School next year, she's incredibly intelligent so the work load shouldn't be a problem and we aren't expecting her to be behind even if she is technically younger than the other children.

There are no words to describe how amazing she is to me, not being the average child means she hasn't had a typical childhood. Edward and I tried to include everything we could but time really was our enemy, there just wasn't enough.
First steps, words, trip to see Santa went by in a flash and before I knew it she wasn't my tiny baby anymore and instead a young girl. I wasn't even sure I was ready to be a mom and suddenly I had not a baby but a child to raise just months after finding out I was pregnant.
Of course I wasn't alone and having this whirlwind of a life only brought me and Edward closer, we've grown as a couple and as people. Renesmee has improved every part of my life, I wouldn't change it for the world.

"Momma" her voice rings through the house and immediately brings a smile to my face.
"Yeah baby?" I ask, appearing in her room in a matter of seconds. "When's Jake going to be here?" She asks frowning. I walk over to where she's sat at her desk and run my finger over the crease in her forehead "not long, he left a while ago so should be any minute now" she straight away breaks into a smile "okay" she chimes shifting her attention back to the notes she's scribbling away. I run my fingers through her silky hair once before turning and walking towards the door at human pace.

"Asking where the dog is again" Edward says appearing at my side and pulling me into him.
"Edward, you're spending too much time with Rosalie" I scold, jokingly slapping his chest causing him to laugh "hey he imprinted on my daughter I'm allowed to take as many digs at him as I want" he grins widely. I roll my eyes and sigh as I pull him towards the front room.
Iv got to say he is handling the whole imprinting thing a lot better than I thought he would,.....a lot better than I did to begin with.
"And you can hardly complain, if I remember correctly Jacob nearly ended up a dead dog when you first found out"
I turn around to look at him briefly before looking ahead again "I was a new born and i was told that my daughter had been claimed by someone when I'd only held her once. I have and excuse" I tell him trying to make my reasoning viable. "Well clearly we both chose to show our irritation in different ways....some more extravagant than others"
"Oh drop it Cullen" I grin pushing on his chest with my index finger, he chuckles, wraps his arms around me and kisses the top of my head.

Jake has stayed a big part of my life, even more so now that Renesmee's here. Her presence while causing a rift between some family members and him over their lack of understanding about imprints, in the end has brought everyone closer. The pack and Cullen's have never been on better terms and are now considered as family to each other, certain individuals of course found it harder to adjust than others but since we came together to fight the voltori there seems to be a new found respect between them. And having a sweet child in the midst of everything only made the decision to make pease even easier. Renesmee was the glue that held us all together to begin with and as she's grown the pack really has come to love her. Being Billy's sons imprint and Seth and Leah's step-niece means she's already related by marriage to some and will be in the future as we all know will inevitably happen.

This of course brought up a whole other issue. Imprinting.
At first we weren't sure what to do or how to handle the situation, after all this wasn't very common in the tribe. While there's Quil and Claire, Renesmee and jake are a particularly unique situation, this has never happened before. A vampire, or at least half of one as jake likes to remind us and a wolf, not a common mix. In the end we decided that she should be told she was Jakes imprint, it was only right and we didn't want to have it all come as a shock when she got older.

From a very young age she was told about how jake imprinted on her when she was a baby and that meant that he was always there for her no matter what, that he would never leave her. We didn't however, tell her that this meant they may be a couple when they were older, after all non of us knew how that would plan out even if it was highly expected by everyone. She hasn't made the connection that most of the other imprints are couples yet and until she does the understanding she has for now is working well.
There is a small crush she has on jake at the moment but with them spending so much time together it was bound to happen, Edward says it's nothing serious and she's not even thinking about relationships or anything like that right now. And she is still very much a child and still like a little sister to jake. When those feelings will change we don't know, it's become more of a topic of conversation between Edward and myself as she's grown, with her teenage years fast approaching and the date that her feelings may develop getting closer.

We decided from the beginning that nothing will happen between them until she is fully grown, non of us have experienced anyone of Renemsee's kind before and so we don't know what she will be like before those 7 years are up but as far as we're concerned she's still a minor up until then. If Edward has his way he'd ban anything until she was 18 in human years at least if not more but eventually he realised this was particularly optimistic thinking to hope that they wouldn't try before that and I managed to convince him he was being ridiculous. But it's a problem we'll have to face when the time comes and for now there's nothing to worry about.

"Hey" jakes voice booms as he comes through the door carrying his jacket under his arm and his keys in his other hand. "Jake" Renesmee beams, bounding down the stairs and into his arms. He picks her up and hugs her tightly before placing her back on the ground and ruffling his hand through her hair causing her to squirm and pull away. "Go get your stuff" he tells her, she nods and runs back up the stairs.
"Hey bells" he grins walking over and pulling me in for a one armed hug "hey Jake"
"Edward" he smiles with a nod.
"Jacob" Edward says in response with a small smile and mimicked nod. "Where are you two off to then?" I ask leaning back into Edwards chest. "I thought we'd go to the beach and then maybe Charlie's" he says placing his jacket down on the table beside him and his keys on top of it. "Sounds good, don't have her up too late" I warn "never do" he smiles, just as Renesmee speeds back down the stairs carrying her backpack and coat, even though she doesn't feel the cold I insist she wears it, she's still my baby and I don't want to risk it.
"Ready" she announces, jumping down the last few steps and standing next to Jake happily.
"Okay bye have fun" I tell her leaning down and hugging her. "I will" she chirps.
"Bye princess" Edward smiles kissing her forehead. "Bye mom, bye dad" she says pulling jake towards the door to leave. "Even a scratch" Edward warns pointing at Jacob "I know I know" he laughs putting his hands up to surrender. It's a regular short conversation and the list of rules and things jake isn't to let her do he knows off by heart, we trust him with her completely but Edward still likes to be the protective dad and make sure.
"Bye guys" he coo's following Renesmee out the door who's already out and down the steps of the house. We watch him go and then head back to the front room "are you ever going to give him a break?" I ask jokingly raising my eyebrows "nope" he grins .
