Waking Up

I’m waking up.

I start shaking and gasping for air, as the water spews out of my mouth and nose.I didn’t think the burning in my throat and chest could get any worse. I was so wrong.

I must be dead.

Dead and hallucinating.

I know I saw Jack, but where is he now? I instinctively feel for my phone to contact the guys, but can't find it. Well duh, I threw it.  You don't need a phone! You’re dead dipshit! Well, I’m nice. "Siggy?" I look up from the almost fetal position I’ve assumed. “Jack?” I can barely croak out his name. I'm dead, does that mean I'm in the water? I am dead! And in the water still. "Siggy, You're not dead." I look at him with shock, it’s as if he can read my thoughts.  "Do you think if you were dead you'd be able to see me?" I can’t tell myself if I nod or shake my head. one of the two.

"SIGGY?!" Al? I hear him but keep my eyes locked with Jack’s. Al and Ed run over from out of the woods. Al hugs me and they both just stare at the same time. I try to not break eye contact. “Sigourney!” I break my stare and look at them, Al looks scared and sad as hell, but Edward looks pissed to hell and back. “Sigourney, what were you staring at hun?” Al asks, while Ed doesn’t say anything. I’m in trouble I know but how do I tell them that Jack Frost is real? Simple, I don't. I shake my head because my throat still burns. "How did you get out?" The worry in their eyes are dripping out. If worry were a color.... God, where did that come from? I’m losing it. Well of course you are, Jack Frost just saved you from death. "I don't know.” My voice still sounds like croaks..

Ed looks at me for a moment. "That's it, you're going to the doctor." "NO! I'm fine." There’s no way to explain anything that just occurred and it’s for the best I put it behind me, yet screaming No just put the final number in for my voice, so I think I’m going no matter what now.  "Your lips are blue. You don’t have a choice.” Edward is very matter of fact with me, he’s the one I expect for ‘tough love’  "Siggy hun, you’re shaking like a leaf, it’s time to get you inside." Al’s voice is gentle. I try to stand but I’m weak. “Ed, there’s no way we can take her to the hospital, carry her back and I’ll call the doctor to come here.” I don’t even want to fathom how much that’s going to cost.  Al takes his hat off and puts in on my head. I didn’t really realize how cold I was until they started pointing it out, and now I really feel it. I pull my hat even lower, thankfully it covers my hair. As Al runs back towards the house, Ed scoops me up and starts walking back. “You shouldn’t have gone out while we were still sleeping Sigourney. If we hadn’t woken up, it could’ve been hours before we came to find you. It was stupid, reckless, and selfish of you.” I look down in shame. You should be ashamed of yourself, especially after all they’ve done for you. I pull the hat lower to press my hair to my head, though there’s probably ice particles, I don’t care.

When we finally get home, I am so happy to be finally put down, I’ve really let them down and can feel the disappointment just radiating off of Edward. He sets me down on the couch, but I find my way to the bathroom. I lock the door. I'm so cold and I can barely take it. I pull off my hat and I'm shocked. "HOLY HELL!" Though my throat is shot, it still manages. I must have been louder than I thought. The double set of footsteps running up the stairs is faster than I could've thought. "Siggy! OPEN THE DOOR!" I don't protest, I don't do anything but unlock the door and start running the water. "SIGOURNEY! WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR HAIR?!" My long black hair has lost all color, I mean completely. This doesn't look like a bleach job, but freshly fallen snow. "I, I didn't do anything." "Ed, she didn't look like that last night, this isn't like an ear piercing that can be hidden, it's her hair! Which if you haven't noticed there's a damn lot of it." Ed is really grumpy today, but I can blame myself for that one. “Sigourney, just - warm up okay? The doctor will he here in a little bit.” I just nod, once in the shower, I give myself a through inspection and what I really don’t understand is how I don’t have any frostbite, and breathing is becoming easier. It just doesn’t add up.

Once I finish warming up, and killing the hot water tank, I go downstairs. I still can't look at my hair and not freak out. Jack, he did something. I sit down on the couch next to Alphonse.  "Since when do you wear contacts." "I don't?" "Last I check you had bright green eyes. Did you get silver contacts or something?" I rush over to the mirror and sure enough, Al is right.  What the hell did Jack do?
