Chapter 2
Rin hates it when others play the hero. Always rushing in and never stopping to think about the reasons why.
He was bullied. Bullying can affect everyone-those who have been bullied, the one who bullies, and those to stand by and watch. It's linked to a lot of negative outcomes especially with the mental health of a person.
It can impact kids with negative physical psyches, school life, and mental health issues.
Bullying happens because of power imbalance, real or not. It's mostly among school-aged children, teens at times, and the behavior is repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time. It may or may not have serious lasting problems but it still impacts someone else's life, especially children. It leads to self-confidence issues and makes the bullied person question their self-worth from time to time.
Rin doesn't understand. If it were up to her, she would've taken the opportunity to get even. That's her way of dealing bullies if she had some.
She clicks her tongue. She doesn't know why she's feeling worried at the thought of someone hurting him. She hates it. She doesn't understand these feelings-being worried and so concerned. The emotions she's having are confusing and so frustrating. She doesn't like these new emotions.
Pushing the thoughts at the back of her mind, she realizes that she's been sitting along at the water fountain for a while now. She suddenly feels awkward and alone as everyone else moved about around her. To distract herself from feeling more awkward, she turns her gaze at the fountain instead.
Water flows from the top in a sharp and elegant arc. It flows over four layers that slowly gets bigger from top to bottom as they reach the rounded pools before coming rest at the base of the fountain where the water shimmers under the sunlight.
"Where is he?" Rin plays with a strand of her hair. Her eyes dart from one person to the next to find her date that promised her to take her to a café in exchange for not mauling the fool that bullied her date.
The bullying fool (Harley) was trembling and on the verge of crying and the bullied fool (Ryou) just had to go and ruined her fun. She was bluffing at that time. Rin might've been a tad serious about dismantling the bullying fool when she almost grazed his cheek once or twin when using her cards but she was still bluffing at the end.
"If that fool decides to stand me up for our date-" Rin comes to the conclusion that he took the cowardly way.
"No. . ." she scoffs at her words. The fool is a goody-two-shoes from what she observed from the day before. Most a goody-two-shoes since she still holds it against him when he keeps mistreating the library books.
Maybe his injuries worsened when he face-planted on the ground yesterday? No, he looked fine when she left him on his own after treating his injuries with the first aid kit.
