it was the day before the king and queen were due to leave the castle, so of course brisk arrangements had to be made to prepare for this. there was so much work to do, simon didn't have a spare chance to see harry.

this made him moody and unbearable to work with, jide had noticed something was up with him but decided not to comment on it.

at the moment, the boys were carrying supplies that had been delivered the night before. they had to carry all the boxes in to the kitchen. the boxes were heavy and simon felt the familiar feeling of his arm muscles aching to the point where it was agonising.

the heat wasn't helping, causing them to sweat and have less of a grip on the boxes.

finally, he set down his box by his feet and ran towards the well.

"what are you doing?" jide hissed.

simon hauled up a bucket up, ripping his shirt off and dunking the entire bucket of water over himself.

"you're crazy, dude." jide laughed, joining him.

simon handed him the bucket, quirking an eyebrow.

"fuck it." jide screamed, grabbing the bucket and emptying it on himself.

a few buckets later, they had to get back to work but they felt a little better about it. simon found himself missing harry, it had been six whole days without seeing the boy that made him feel not so homesick.

his life back at the village seemed like a lifetime ago, he wrote to his mother and his brothers sometimes. he didn't mention harry, though. his mother would definitely disapprove. she tried so hard to keep simon from misbehaving like his older brothers. he just didn't want to disappoint her.

he didn't have many friends, even as a child he preferred his own company. he knew he lacked the ability to make friends easily because he just had difficulty getting along with all the other boys at the village.

he did have ethan, though. he was simon's neighbour and they would often be in each other's company. it was probably due to the fact that their mother's were good friends. however, the boy's were quite alike in their reckless manner and ethan made simon laugh with the odd things he said sometimes.

he missed ethan, the only person he felt he could talk to about harry. ethan would understand, maybe he could introduce them when he finally snuck harry out of this damn castle. he did have a plan.

as the sun was setting, simon smiled at the horizon knowing this was the last night of the king and queen being in the castle and that meant harry would be able to sneak out with him. the tiredness from the hard labour suddenly vanished and all he wanted to do was run up to the tower.

"jide?" he called, placing down the very last box.

"i'm going to get an early night, " he stretched and faked a yawn, hoping he was convincing enough.

"sure, goodnight then." jide nodded, eyeing simon a little curiously but he didn't pry any further.

jide was just wondering what had happened for simon's drastic change in mood. he had quietly been noticing the fact that his mood had been low all week, he was more distracted than usual and seemed to almost be jittery. so when he saw the boy laughing and messing around today, it surprised him. simon was a weird boy, that was for sure.

-

simon almost sprinted right into the hallway and up the stairs, forgetting the guards but just in time he halted. cautiously, he looked around the corner and saw the guard walking past the door. he waited until he left and then ran up the stairs as fast as his legs would carry him.

he burst into the room, almost falling over his feet with a smile so wide it could replace the sun in the sky.

"princess!" simon yelled.

he heard a little squeal and then he was being pulled further into the room, harry's small hands clutching onto his collar.

"simon!" harry laughed, and simon swears the stars in his eyes could light up the whole kingdom.

"you're back." he said, and then in a matter of seconds, his smile had dropped. he let go of simon and stepped back, pouting a little, all of a sudden looking very sad.

"what?" simon asked worry reaching his heart, "what is it?

"i was sad, when you didn't visit." he said slowly, biting his lip. "there was this feeling in my chest and it didn't go away until you came back."

simon let the silence in the room eat away at him a little before he crossed the room, standing in front of harry. "i think you just missed me. people miss each other when they go away. it's the feeling when all you want is to be with them."

"then, i miss you so much simon." harry said, fear seeping into his words.

"missed," simon corrected, with a smile, "i'm here now."

the happiness returned to harry's face and he nodded, then looked up at simon from beneath his weirdly long eyelashes. "i'm sorry, for getting upset."

"no, no, no." simon says sternly but his eyes still soft, "you never apologise for what you feel, okay?"

"okay, sor-," he stops and giggles, covering his mouth with his little hands that are still painted pink.

"tomorrow, is the day." simon says , grinning.

"what's the plan?" harry asks, tucking a curl behind his ear and eagerly waiting for a response.

simon goes over to the unmade bed and sits down, crossing his legs. harry follows suit, picking up a pillow to cling onto.

"okay, listen carefully..."
