The Morganville Vampires – The Mystery of Amelie, Bishop, Oliver and Myrnin ( Prequel )

This is my first ever time writing something like this, so please bear with me.

Chapter 1

France – 1086 – Amelie

I walked to my small cottage, trying to come up with a million excuses as to why I was late home, but my God, I was having too much fun with Richard, as I walked up to the door, my elegant white tunic flowing down my small frame, I unlocked it gently and was just about to announce I was home when I stumbled upon a cold solid object on the ground, I looked down, but I couldn’t make out what it was. I crossed the room to light a candle and walked curiously back to the inanimate object and, lowering the lamp, scrutinized the floor with caution, until I found a body. I let out a startled screech as I backed up, almost dropping the candle in the process. Fighting the instinct to run and scream, I walked back to the body, petrified; I turned the cold and limp body over to see the face, and screamed.

My heart thudded at an unnatural pace, it was my mother, lifeless and stone dead, two perfectly placed holes in her neck, with a speck of blood escaping the wounds. ‘Father!’ I said in a horrible high pitched tone, no answer. ‘Father!’ I tried again, but still no answer. I was about to try again when I turned round and ran into a figure as hard as stone, gasping, I ran, until the pale hand grabbed me.

‘Amelie,’ Bishop said. Relieved, I hugged him, but out of the corner of my eye, something didn’t look right, I looked up at my father and saw, I saw a monster; his red eyes glowed in a predatory way as he looked at me, and that’s when his bone white fangs came down, he smiled and said; ‘Now, my daughter, you will finally be immortal, don’t you want that?’

I sprinted for the door in outright terror, tripping over my mother, my dead mother in the process, run now, mourn later, my conscious told me, which right now, was a good rule to follow. I reached the door, heart pounding and grabbed at the handle as my father, that monster, effortlessly grabbed my hand as I scraped the door, desperately trying to escape, but it was no use, his cold hand wrapped around my waist as he threw me, hard, against the wooden bookcase. There was a ghostly blur, and he was behind me, digging those hideous fangs into my neck as I screamed until I could no more. My eyes closed,  ‘Please.’ I whispered weakly until the world disappeared from my senses completely, and this is what death feels like, where my last thoughts until I lapsed into complete, utter darkness.
