Ok, so before you read the next part, I just want to give you a head's up that I wasn't quite sure how to separate it into chapters, so it will have multiple parts with headings to describe them. Oh, and I this chapter kind of relates to Halloween, although I didn't plan it that way, or did I? :)
Also, as always, I appreciate any feedback I can get - comments or questions that you have about the story. I won't give things away, but other that, I hope to answer anything you might be wondering about.
Ok, so without further ado, here is Ghost of the Past...
"No! Don't go away! Please just look at me! Say something please! I miss you so much..." Louis screamed as he tossed and turned in his bed. "I still love you, Eleanor" Louis muttered. Suddenly, he woke up and sat straight up in his bed. Flashbacks from his nightmare came back to him in waves.
Nightmare Flashback
Louis was standing in a wide open field filled with tall stalks of wheat.
He was surrounded in shadows and pitch black darkness. The only noise was the wind whistling through the trees.
Thinking he had seen one too many horror films, Louis started to feel a little uneasy. It was eerily quiet, and not being one to handle silence well, Louis began slowly turning around in circles as he called out over and over again,
"Hello! Is anyone there?"
After a few minutes of yelling out into the darkness and spinning around, Louis was dizzy and his voice was getting hoarse. In a final attempt to figure out what was going on, he called out,
"Look, whoever you are, if there is a point to all this, I'd really like to skip to it because I have stuff to do, and I'd like to spend some time with my son..." Louis said as his voice trailed off.
At the word son, Louis thought he heard a soft noise to his right, and he quickly turned around to face it. In the distance he could see a vague figure dressed in white walking towards him.
As the figure got closer, he saw that it was a tall, thin brunette lady wearing what appeared to be a white nightgown. When she got close enough for Louis to talk to, he looked at her face and whispered, "Eleanor, is that you?"
The figure who appeared to be Eleanor (but Louis couldn't be quite sure) made no response to Louis' question. She simply stared ahead as she started walking away from him. Before she could get past him though, Louis tried to grab hold of her arm to get her attention. As he did so, he noticed two important details.
The first was that the lady who looked like Eleanor was not just walking but floating in the air about an inch above the ground. But while Louis was shocked by the Eleanor figure floating, the second detail made him gasp aloud.
Before she moved past him, Louis was able to get a glimpse of her eyes, and he was startled. Expecting to see the pretty hazel eyes that haunted his dreams sometimes, he instead saw eyes so black they seemed unnatural. Her eye sockets were almost completely hollowed out, and he found it hard to look into her eyes. So, he tried looking at her nose instead.
"Eleanor, is that you? Can you hear me?" Louis asked frantically.
After no response from her once again, Louis repeated himself as he took hold of her shoulders, shaking her and trying desperately to get her to look at him. Much to his surprise, however, instead of feeling Eleanor's shoulders in his hands, all he felt was air where they appeared to be.
