The Princess in Disguise

Chapter 3:The training

She looked at me and said"A war started, a war between us and humans. At first, they would just hurt us, which was fine, because the water heals us, but then they started doing much worse things to us.  They got huge nets, and took us from out home, we can only survive for 48 hours without being in water. So, after hundreds of us died they figured out they figured out we needed to be in water, but we also figured out how to defeat them, so when they came back again, we lured them away with out voices to drown in the ocean". At that I gasped she looked at me and smiled"we do not like violence, we are gentle creatures at nature. But when we are threatened and out young are threatened we will do what we need to do to survive".   I was still pretty confused, what in the world did any of this have to do with me?

After a few minutes, her sad look went away and she gave me a serious look. "I bet by now your wondering where do you fit into all of this, am I right?" I  nodded astonished, how did she know? "Well, you are a princess, but not just any princess, your the princess born to the 3rd daughter, on the 3rd day." I looked at her, still confused, until it hit me. Was she trying to tell me...?

"Your next in line for the thrown!" she said excitedly, almost shouting at me,"but you need to get ready first".  "How do I do that?" I asked. " Don't worry, that's why I am here". "So, what do we do first?" I asked, bewildered. I felt like I was run over by a train, well with information at least. I am a princess, I am a future queen?! I am a mermaid?!! That would explain why I loved water so much, but I thought I was just a weirdo, and well, so does everyone else I know. Well, Penelope was not giving me any time to soak it in, and maybe that was a good thing. Maybe if I tried to take it all in, I would faint, or my head would implode, or something  like that.  

I turned to Penelope and asked "how do I transform?" She smiled at me, and said " I will teach you.". Then she spread out her hand, and waved it in front of her, and huge came rushing at us, and at first I was frightened, because  I thought we would drown, but the water hit the ground and made a nice oasis.  I smiled and looked at in awe. I was amazed, it was incredible. Ir was a beautiful oasis, complete with tiny fish, and the oasis looked warm. I wanted to get in, but the realized I did not have a swim suit on. Penelope saw me staring, and smiled, and waved her hand in front of me, and I had on a beautiful blue one piece swim suit, with pictures of waves on it. She looked at me and said, "get in". I did, and she lead me deeper and deeper into the oasis, until my head was barely on top, then she pushed me under. For a few minutes, I enjoyed it, I looked around under the beautiful, crystal clear water, and gazed at all the beautiful fish, but soon, I realized I was running out of air, so I tried to come up, but she would not let me. She held me down. I pulled at her, and tried to grab hold of something to try to pull myself up, but there was nothing around but water, my lungs burned, my eyes stung, and I started to feel like I was going to pass out. Was this it? Is this how I am going to die? I began to slowly close my eyes, and give up... To be continued..
