Dan was walking alone around the neighbourhood on a chilly autumn day to clear his mind out a little, with his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his hoodie.
He was grumbling and arguing with himself under his breath when he was suddenly stopped by a huge, 7 foot stranger. He stared, bewildered, at the size of this person. He then tried to search for the strangers face but where the persons face should've been, all he saw was shadow. Then the shadowy figure spoke,
"Hey kid, do u want a job?" He asked Dan. His voice was low and slightly scratchy, like sand paper.
Dan was looking around nervously, unsure of what to think at the moment. "I don't have all day kid," the stranger growled impatiently.
"I...umm...I don't know..." Dan said with uncertainty still searching for an escape route. "Cause I have something that might interest you," the stranger handed a piece of paper to Dan. "They pay you loads if you accept the job" The man sounded like he was smiling mysteriously as he said that.
Dan looked up at the figures head, hoping to see a face, but without luck. Instead he looked down at the piece of paper and read it, but he couldn't see clearly for the sun was already lost from view. Apparently, the job was to enter the woods at night and collect drawings that keep showing up. But what made Dan become interested was that they paid you so much money, it was unreal!
Dan got excited about that part, but he didn't like the fact that he had to go into the woods at night. The thought frightened him. He instantly pictured spiders falling from tree branches and landing on his head and shoulders... ugh, the thought sent chills up and down his spine.
When the stranger spoke again, it startled Dan for he forgot the stranger was still there. "Do you want the job, or not?" The way the man said that made Dan feel uncertain all over again, the tone in the mans voice scared Dan.
Since Dan didn't want to upset this stranger, he accepted the job. The man was glad that Dan finally made up his mind, turned around and disappeared. Dan only stood there for a moment and ran the rest of the way home, for he didn't want to be stopped by any other stranger and anyways, it was getting pretty late.
( guys I know it sucks XD its my first ever time writing a book, so pls don't hate me, lol. Also if any of u are wondering why the stranger called Dan a kid, its because Dan is only about 5'7 or 5'6.7 (😍) and the stranger, as stated, is 7 feet tall, so get where I'm going? Anyways thx for reading! Ill try to update as soon as possible! And yes the chapter is so freaking short...WHY?! )
