Camping Trip

Rebecca and Emily stared at their dads, startled. After a minute, Emily spoke.

"Wait.....so we're going on a camping trip? What about the twins?" Becki spoke up.
"And Jude, Phoenix, and Blaire? Are they coming too?" Luke shook his head.
"No. They're staying with your grandparents." The two teenagers looked at each other, small smiles appearing.
"Okay, this is pretty cool." Rebecca admitted. She was a freshman at Pensacola Christian College, and was home for the summer. Emily was a junior, and hadn't decided on where to go for college yet.

"Pretty cool? I'm so excited! We get a weekend together!" They laughed, and Joel smirked.
"Oh, it gets better. Connor and Jeremiah are coming also." Emily stared at her dad, and blinked.
"Wait....Jeremiah Graham? As in the Jeremiah that I'm dating?" Her dad nodded, and she started jumping up and down, nearly jumping onto Rebecca, who was laughing and blushing at the same time.

"Okay, okay. We get it. You're excited. I am too, but we need to get stuff ready. Remember, we leave in three hours." The two young ladies took off, and Joel laughed quietly.
"You think they liked the idea?" Luke pretended to think, then smiled.
"No, I don't. I think they loved the idea." The two brothers laughed, and then went to get their things ready as well. Courtney and Moriah were both ready before Luke and Joel, and everything got packed up quickly. As they were loading up the car, Emily turned to her mom.

"Mamí, how about no climbing trees on this camping trip, okay?" Moriah chuckled.
"I think I can do that this time. I don't need another concussion." Everyone laughed at that, and finally, with the ladies taking charge, got everything packed neatly. Joel and Moriah took the front seats, Luke and Courtney the middle, and Emmy and Becki squeezed in the back.

After about three hours, Rebecca spoke up.
"Dad, my arm's falling asleep." Becki said, gently poking him.
"Are your fingers asleep too?" She shook her head.
"No. It's the stump, not my right arm." He chuckled slightly.
"We're almost there. About ten more minutes." Then, Emily spoke up.
"Are Connor and Jeremiah meeting us there?" Moriah turned around some, seeing her daughter's eager face.
"Yes, they are. They're going to actually be sharing a tent. So....hopefully they will both be in one piece by the end of the trip." They all laughed, and Rebecca tried to stretch, smacking Emily in the face.

"Hey! Watch it! That's my face you just hit." Rebecca chuckled.
"Sorry. At least we know your face isn't going numb." Emily gave her a look.
"Excuse me! I could've told you my face isn't numb." Rebecca chuckled, and Joel shook his head.
"I think we also need to make sure they don't kill each other." They both heard that, and reacted in unison.
"Hey!!" They looked at each other, and burst into laughter. Courtney looked back, and smiled at the two of them, and Luke laughed.
"Eh, it depends. How much longer do we have, Moriah?" She looked at the directions.
"Under ten minutes. Joel, turn left right here." He nodded, doing as his wife instructed. Rebecca and Emily amused themselves by seeing how close they could get to gently tugging on Luke's curls. Rebecca had more luck, since she was behind him. He was a surprisingly good sport, since he knew his daughter and niece were bored. They got there, and Joel hopped out.

"Ah, camping. The time where you try to avoid wild animals, and have to do your busi-" Moriah smacked him.
"Joel David Smallbone, don't you dare. Help get the stuff out. The boys will be here in a few minutes. He quickly headed to the back of the car, and started unpacking tents and backpacks. Just as he and Luke finished taking the stuff out, another car pulled up, and out climbed Connor and Jeremiah.

"There you are! You're finally here!" Joel grinned, and Moriah threatened to smack him again. He ducked away, and everyone laughed. Jeremiah hugged Emily, who couldn't seem to quit blushing.

"How are things for you, Emmy?" He asked, and she smiled.
"Going pretty well. Not exactly excited about you not being there. I'll be a senior, though. So that's nice. One more year of high school." Rebecca laughed, and Connor put an arm around her shoulders.
"Them it's off to college, Emmy. Trust me, they make you work even harder than any teacher in middle or high." She smirked at her older cousin.
"Well, you might be right, Becki. But what about grumpy old Ms. Jeannetta?" Rebecca sucked in a breath.
"Mm....she comes close. Alright, enough teacher talk. It's summer. Dad, are we ready to head off?" Luke looked up, and nodded.
"Whenever you all are ready." Connor and Jeremiah quickly got their stuff out, and Connor had his guitar case in one hand, and Jeremiah tried to juggle oranges from a cooler. Finally, after about 20 minutes of hiking, they got to the campsite, and were pleasantly surprised to see they were the only campers. Moriah, Courtney, Luke, and Emily started setting up the tents, while Joel, Jeremiah, and Connor went for firewood. Rebecca sat off to the side, sorting out the clothes from the food.

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me!!" She groaned, digging through something, and Emily looked over.
"What?" Rebecca sat back on her heels.
"I'm in trouble if we plan to go hiking again. My arm's still back at the house." Then Luke looked up.
"Then someone else can take your backpack." She shook her head, closing the cooler and standing up. Emily looked confused.

"I'm not letting someone else do that. It's not okay with me." She said, and her cousin chuckled.
"You are stubborn." Rebecca raised an eyebrow.
"Am not." After about another half hour, they got the tents set up, and after another fifteen, got a nice fire going, as the sun was going down. Then, Jeremiah pulled out Connor's guitar and his tambourine. Joel grinned, and pulled the smaller cooler over to use as a drum. Emily whispered something to Rebecca, who grinned and whispered something to Connor. He grinned, saying something to Jeremiah, and then they started a song, Rebecca and Emily singing along.

"Oh, where is my hairbrush? Oh where it my hairbrush? Oh where, oh where, oh where, oh where, oh, where....is my hairbrush!" Joel roared with laughter, nearly falling off the log he and Moriah were sitting on. Then, Connor started another Veggietales tune.

"God is bigger than the bogeyman. He's bigger than godzilla or the monsters on tv. Oh, God is bigger than the bogeyman, and he's watching out for you and me." Then, everyone joined in, and they sang that one again. Courtney laughed, and she had an idea for one.

"You know the Cheeseburger song?" Jeremiah grinned.
"That one's my favorite. And I taught him how to play it." Luke laughed, and Connor started.
"Cause you're his cheeseburger, his precious cheeseburger. He'll wait for you, oh, he'll wait for you. Cause you're his cheeseburger, his lovely cheeseburger. Oh, he will wait for you." Then, Luke called out another.
"How about Barbara Manatee?" The boys grinned again, and Connor shook his hand out, and started again, Emily and Rebecca doing background vocals.

"Barbara Manatee, you are the one for me. I'll take you to the ball. I hope you're not too tall!" They laughed, and continued doing different Veggietales silly songs for about another hour, and then had dinner, sang more, and went to bed. They stayed for about a week, nobody got any concussions or other injuries. Emily, though, wouldn't stop teasing her cousin about her and Connor sneaking a little ways away to talk. So, Rebecca did the same to Emily, but about her and Jeremiah. All in all, they had a nice little camping trip.

christismysaviour, I'm so sorry this took so long. I just got back from going to an Operation Christmas Child center to help process shoeboxes. At one point, I heard Priceless playing. Okay, night! :)
