I imagine love feeling like a bird
free and unsure
not knowing where to go
or what's around the corner
yet somehow always knowing how to dodge the bullet
I imagine love feeling like an ocean
you drown in it
it pulls you deeper and deeper into every trench and crevasse
salt filling your lungs
but the waters are clear
and soft and beautiful
dolphins whispering sonnets beneath the waves
sirens singing beautiful hymns
trumpets awaking the starfish with their lofty sounds
I imagine love feeling like the end of the world
the horsemen of the apocalypse riding in like a profound song
roaches scurrying inside your lungs
creeping up your throat
but the hell flames kissing your frigid skin instead of burning it
somehow making the hunger feel good
I can imagine love being so beautiful
pure and sweet and innocent
like an indian summer's sun warming your skin
yet completely and utterly disgusting
lustful and selfish and deadly
like a small azalea flower
that someone forgot to water.
