Glancing nervously around me, I jogged into the park. I couldn’t see Callum anywhere. The only person in the park except from me was some fake, blonde, Barbie wannabie that looked a lot like one of Sam’s one night stands. In fact, as I peered closer I realised it was. It was the girl he was making out with the other morning. Ugh! I sighed in disgust. What was she going to do? Sam had probably read the note Callum had left me because he had no sense of private when it came to me. Then he would have told Barbie over there to come and taunt me. Yep, that was definitely what it was. I decided it would be easier to hide and wait for Callum, and then ask if we could go somewhere else. I moved backward so I was stood in a gap in the bush.

I waited there for about five minutes, just mentally preparing myself for the situation that was about to arise Barbie got up and started to walk over towards exactly where I was hiding. I pushed myself further and further back into the hedge feeling it bend behind as I pressed my weight against it. Suddenly it snapped around me, encasing me in its grasp. Her head snapped to the hedge and I held my breath begging for her to not have noticed me. She turned away and carried on walking to her destination. I sighed inwardly and released my breath. I heard her squeal and then a mans voice talking to her lovingly. I would recognise that voice anywhere but now I couldn’t for the life of me remember whose it was! Sam’s? It had to be. Who else would be so love-struck by that walking tart?

I could hear the voices getting closer and hoped I was hidden well enough. Next to the Barbie was a blonde head of hair not a ginger one. Confused, I leant forward in the bush to get a better view of who it was. Despite the fact that my older brother hated me I still felt protective over him and would hate it if one of his tarts was cheating on him. Huh! There’s a sentence I never thought I’d say! As I slowly stuck my head out the bush, I realised my foot had a vine wrapped round it and I reached out to catch myself but my hand went straight through the bush and I ;landed flat om my face in front of Barbie and Callum. Wait… Callum? What? They were holding hands and that meant that… Ugh. I squinted my eyes to check I was seeing right. Yep, I was. I pinched myself. Nope, not dreaming. Hallucinating. Wait, that’s not even possible.

“Laura?” Callum laughed. “What were you doing in the hedge?” He bent down to give me a hand up. Yeah Laura, what were you doing in the hedge? I racked my brains to think of logical reason.

“I um… lost my cat.”

“You don’t have a cat.”

“Oh don’t I?” Damn. “Did I say cat? I meant dog.”

“You don’t have a dog either.”

“My rabbit? My hamster? My guinea pig? My fish?...” He shook his head after all of these and I sighed. “My shoe?”

“You definitely have a shoe. Why was it in the hedge?” He laughed. I blushed.

“I, ugh, dropped it.” He laughed some more.

“When your ready you can tell us the real reason.” Us? They were an us already? My stomach heaved. I felt like I was gonna be sick. I pulled it together. I had to keep my composure, at least until I got home. Then I could break down into a wreck. What happened at home stayed at home!

“So, you gonna introduce us?” I indicated to Barbie, giving her a glare at the same time. How dare she seduce him only to break his heart. I was seething.
