That night Dina decided she was going to give notice at the end of the week that she was leaving. The girls hated her always played tricks on her and now, they have hurt her to the core by taking the one thing that meant the world to her. It was wrong to think it was them but there was no one else in the home and no reason for Michael to take it. Dina really liked the girls but felt it was pointless to keep trying to get them to like her when clearly they never will. Dina would stay the customary two weeks while Michael found a replacement for her then she would leave and the girls would be happy she is gone. How can she stay when the man she loved didn’t love her and his children did all they could to hurt her and chase her away anyway? They win, she’s leaving. Maybe it was for the best anyway. Dina cries herself to sleep.
Michael laid in his bed as he had many nights thinking of Dina and how he could make her love him. See him for the man he is and not her employer. He loved her so much yet, she just didn’t see that. Now his heart ached for the love of Dina and because she was so sad about the gift her mother had given her that now was missing and it went missing in his home. He really prayed this girls didn’t have something to do with it. He decided he would search their rooms while they were at school in the morning and hope he did not find it in their rooms. Michael closed his eyes to sleep with visions of Dina. Angel popped into his dream and she was smiling at him. He felt so happy to see her. His heart melted and she was telling him something about Dina but he didn’t understand it. He tried to but he just didn’t. This made him sad and tears filled his eyes as he dreamed.
Friday came and Dina’s fabrige egg from her mother still did not show up and she had looked and looked. Her sadness was great. This too was the day she would be giving her two week notice she was leaving and that made her even sadder.
Michael; I’m home girls!! He was smiling. They came running out to give him a hug.
Dina: Mr. Jackson?
Michael looking over at Dina while holding his girls. Yes Ms. Santos? Still smiling.
Dina; May I speak with you after dinner? Sadly
Michael: this brought a pang of dread to his heart. A light frown touched his lips. Okay, sure Ms. Santos.
The girls looked at each other with knowing looks and very soft smiles touched their lips. They won and they knew it. Hugging their daddy happily, kissing his cheek and going to get ready for dinner
After dinner, the girls excused themselves and went to get ready for bed. They had to clean up their rooms too. They kissed their daddy and told him they loved him. Said goodnight to Dina and left the table skipping happily away. Dina hurriedly cleaned the table and kitchen putting all the left over food away and the dishes in the dishwasher to be cleaned. She then walked over to the table to tell Michael she was giving notice. The girls had quietly crept out of their rooms to listen.
Dina; Mr. Jackson; You know I loved working here, but I just can’t anymore. I don’t think this is for me. I really love your daughters and I have tried to get along with them, really I have. We just don’t seem to find that happy meeting in the middle and I don’t want them to be upset or uncomfortable with me being around anymore. I think they think I am trying to take you from them and I’m not. They need you and you need them. They love you and I love them too. But. I just can’t stay where I am not really wanted nor can I stay if I’m not happy either. I have enjoyed working here. Really I have. This has nothing to do with your girls so please don’t be upset with them. It’s me all me. I take full responsibility for everything. I just think it’s best for all of us if I leave. I have another job waiting for me that I can take in another city far away by the end of next month. I will stay and help you find a replacement should only be two weeks maybe two in a half. Then I will go. Sighing heavily. My mothers fabrige egg turning up missing was the last straw for me. It meant everything to me and now its gone. Making me face the harsh reality. I am not welcome here so I will go. Thank you for allowing me to stay and work here the last 8 months. I have truly loved it. You are a good man Michael Jackson and I know you will find all you are looking for one day. Your girls are beautiful. Good bye. She turns so he can’t see her crying and leaves to her room. The girls heard everything looking at each other with smilies. They won. Their daddy is all theirs again. Going to their bedrooms and going to bed.
Michael; Ms. Santo? He calls after her. I really wish you’d stay his voice fades. And Dina starts walking again closes the door to her room goes to her bed and cries. Michael sits there at the table stunned and deeply saddened. The woman he loves is leaving and he never got to tell her how he feels. His girls have been so mean to her and the pranks and tricks just went to far when they did whatever it was to the egg her mother had given her. He bows his head as the tears fall. He loves his babies deeply and they must come first it’s just that he finally too had a chance to be happy and now it’s all gone. Ruined. He sits and sobs in the chair alone in the dark.
