Well, as you can tell from the title of this part, I really hate Dumbledore. He's done some things that make me happy, yes, and he has said some of my favourite Harry Potter quotes, but all in all I see him as a horrible person who should not get the praise he deserves. After saying this, someone will always ask me why. Which, to be honest, is understandable. If you have always seen a character as good and worthy of the love that he gets, of course you're going to be curious as to why another doesn't see it the way you do. Now, I normally answer with one or two reasons, sometimes being my weakest, because I really do not have the time and effort to say every reason and give detail without something, or someone, getting in the way. So I thought this would be a good place to talk about it...
Here is why I hate Dumbledore.
--
Firstly, after reading/watching Harry Potter I was quickly shook from the idea that he left a 1 y/o child on the doorstep of a house in the middle of the night. Obviously, seeing as I was much younger when seeing/reading this for the first time, I never really saw it as a bad thing it just...confused me? But now, properly looking back at it, all in all that is wrong no matter what the reason is, although many would say his reason was okay.
You see, that's not the case. His 'reason', if you could call it that, was deceitful and cruel if anything. But, I'm not too stuck on this - the only reason this is so bad in my eyes is because it's just one of many things he has done in his time which is awful. If alone, I would probably love the guy. I mean, I did when I was younger as I didn't really understand everything. But it's not alone. There is a lot of reasons to hate Dumbledore, in my opinion, and this is the lesser of evils, to be honest.
Let's go onto the second reason then, shall we?
Secondly, he knew full well how abusive and cruel the Dudley's were towards Harry. At first, obviously, this didn't bother me. 'He couldn't help,' I used to say. But after reading the fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I found out that actually, he could help and he knew that. He had the power to stop it and he KNEW THAT. He let it happen and pretty much just watched it play out. He watched Harry getting abused for ten years so he'd be able to stand as a fatherly figure to the boy and manipulate him into doing the things that he wasn't willing to do because obviously, living with muggles, Harry would have fallen desperately in love with the Wizarding World and like anyone who suddenly realises magic is real, he'd want to try it all out. Even the bad, risking-your-life stuff. Also, just to add on, when Harry finally gets his acceptance letter and comes to Hogwarts, Dumbledore grooms him into becoming the kind of person who will die for 'the greater good' which, by the way, is a DISGUSTING thing to do.
Thirdly, Dumbledore literally withholds information from Harry and that doesn't seem to bother anyone? Why!? He literally made the task much more dangerous than it already was just by withholding the information he shouldn't have. But what pisses me off even more than this is the fact that in Order of the Phoenix Dumbledore accidentally begins to care for the boy and tells him he fucking lied to him like it was okay in the first place and that Harry would forgive him willy-nilly! And, the funny thing is, it wasn't only one task he withheld information from, it was all of them before this. I mean, are you fucking kidding me?
Now, just so you know, this is where I start to talk about everything out of order, maybe.. I don't even know. It's just that I noted all the things I wanted to mention and as I got further down I kept forgetting earlier things and remembering later things instead so I'm pretty sure I have everything, but if not I do believe I have enough to back my argument. Please do not let this messed up ordering bother you, it should all still make sense. I hope, anyways.
Right, don't even get me started on the fact Dumbledore literally tried to take the Hallows for himself when he always talks about 'wisdom' and 'pride' and whatnot to Harry! If that isn't two-faced, I don't know what is. This really bothers me. Oh, and by the way, does it not bother anyone that he literally knew he was going to have to die but didn't tell Harry after making himself the person Harry now looked at as a father!? Like, he didn't tell Harry he was going to die when he already knew what the death of his parents had done to him, mentally and physically. I mean, seriously!? That's messed up. HE LITERALLY LET HARRY SUFFER BECAUSE OF HIS DEATH WHEN HE DIDN'T DESERVE THAT LOVE IN THE FIRST PLACE! I mean, if you're going to let someone love you when you don't deserve it, you should really be truthful and honest with them and do everything to keep them happy..
Oh, and before I forget to mention this one because I never wrote it down, Dumbledore refused to let Harry be prefect because you didn't want people to think you were 'playing favourites'. In my opinion, that's understandable. It's understandable with any teacher that everyone knows has a very close bond with a student and/or is related to them. I literally have an irl friend, who is absolutely wonderful by the way, who's dad is the head teacher of our school and she is head girl and I will bet you now that a lot of people would say she's only head girl because her dad is head teacher but that's 100% not true. She's head girl because she took a much better interview than anyone else who applied and that's the simple truth. So, I can see why Dumbledore would have a fear of people seeing him as 'playing favourites' because, not only can that be bad for him, but it can also make life hell for Harry seeing as people will treat him like shit for that. Trust me, I know how those sort of things work - I've seen it play out first hand. But, what bothers me about this is that Dumbledore literally gave the house cup to Gryffindor for FOUR YEARS IN A ROW all because of Harry Potter so he can't really talk about 'playing favourites'... If there is something that bothers me more than most things, it's this.
Also, I do not know how I feel about Snape. I've never seen past the idea of him being an extremely well written character and I've never really zoomed into him as a character in general and that, due to this, has made it really hard for me to accumulate an opinion about him which isn't weak and flimsy. As, if it's weak, it'll probably change the next day. So please don't take this next point as me hating him and not wanting him in the story! He's so important to the franchise, it's unreal. Oh my gosh, without him there would be so many blanks and plot holes so, he is great, interesting character but I just don't really have an opinion on him as a person. Do I like him? Do I dislike him? Would I go as far to love him or hate him? I don't know... Anyways, the real point here is that Dumbledore stupidly let Snape keep teaching at Hogwarts although he knew full well how he treated the students, especially Harry, genuinely for his own desires of 'keeping him close'. Like, he's meant to be the head but literally choices his own personal desires over the happiness of his students? Okay, that doesn't make me want to rip his head off at all... Nooo...
Also, if you haven't already noticed, the thing that bothers me the most about Dumbledore is that when Harry was fighting against Voldemort in the last book, there is something Harry doesn't realise. This is that Harry is not fighting his own fight against Lord Voldemort. No, not at all.. In reality, Dumbledore didn't have faith in Harry at all yet let Harry fight Dumbledore's fight thinking it was his own but, hey, Albus wasn't ever going to tell him this now, was he? I can take a few guesses why. I mean, he's literally a horrible person so I wouldn't put it past him. Would you?

This is why I hate Dumbledore.
Wow, I will never get over how angry it always makes me to write this.. I probably missed things I'd love to add out but I just really can't think of them to be honest. Just watch out for this chapter possibly being updated one day, I guess.. :')
Anyways, I would like to hear your opinion. So, here is your question for this part!
How do you feel about Dumbledore? Do you like him? Dislike him? Why? Is there anything that you disagree with about what I've said and why? Do you agree with it all? Did it change your opinion? Did you already have the same opinion? Etc..
I love hearing the opinions of others so without being rude please share your opinion even if it's exactly the same as mine! :) Have a lovely day or night wherever you are! :3
