For you, the one so strong, so caring, so devoted as to lose your last chance at something great, to allow that chance to become something perfect.
A hum of raindrops pelt my umbrella,
drowning out all sounds and sights,
song on repeat, a booming orchestra,
plays on and on through earphones white.A tap so subtle on my weary shoulders,
turns me around to catch in view,
eyes brightly focused, as air grows colder,
I find myself to be finally facing you.Walking slowly, chatting ensues as I see,
a shop at the corner of a busy street,
where I remember, our first talk had been,
on a rainy day, it was scarce of seats.By the corner we once chose, today as well,
me taking your recommendation again.
The kiss of caramel in froth blended could tell,
how the evening would progress to a pen.We spoke like we once used to in smiles,
and laughed at every little thing we had,
like long lost brethren separated by miles,
together we connected, and I was glad. But, things had changed from last we spoke,
new connections made that I would dread,
and I stifled a cry, in this muffled choke.
for I wanted to return to old days instead.Yet, I couldn't embody the emotion and pain,
I held it in with all strength I could muster,
for I feared that if I would, I may lose you again,
your smile, among millions just never lost its luster. So, I just gave the best advice I could,
and I knew that this would send you on,
to reaches that are all for you good,
though leave me in tears, as you are gone.We end our talk, cups emptied and cold,
you readied to leave to find your rest,
and I content, let go of these things I hold,
lose love, for I know, this is for the best.
