On slow mornings like this where we,
start sipping hot cups of coffee or tea,
I look at you, your beautifully natural face paints a picture,
that no one can really translate into word or tincture.
And I realize,

I will never be enough.

I sit dumbfounded, glasses all fogged up,
stare at batting eyelashes and a near empty cup,
laugh lines and messy hair, looking back at me,
I try to keep composure but I can only see.

I will never,
I will never be enough.

While the warmest touch comes across,
my shaking hand and fear comes to a loss,
I see the tears roll slowly down, your cheek,
and in my memories I start to keep,
The fact that I,
Each fact why,
I will never be enough.

Though, even if I couldn't be what completely made you happy,
I still strove and tried to paint a smile across the canvas of your face,
traced the stars in the sky, to find each one of them in your eyes and see,
the universe is before me, galaxies bound to your existence, all of it held in place.

Because I am imperfect, because I am an incomplete a being,
I did each and everything for you with greater effort and meaning.
And I am spent and look upon how you can continue on to greater heights,
I, though not enough can say that I had done all I could within this life.

You see we are all looking and searching for,
someone to create a purpose we can stand before,
but we can never find it in another's arms,
nor in the urging of songs, and spoken bars.
We see it in the deepest of our soul,
the yearning of the broken to be made whole,
a hunger of the heart that speaks so clearly,
yet falls upon the deaf, the vain, and greedy.

So as these heartbeats start to slow their pace,
I speak to you in candor, let me see your face,
one last time can I hold, my whole world in my hands,
gaze upon my universe, try my best to understand.
That somehow,
Incomplete yet now,
Have been enough.
