The Wish of a Bard

For you, the one I dearly want to be close to. May these words be a comfort, a message, a piece of me, that lingers on with you always.

If I could just be, where you were in an instant,
would it be easier to see your smile shine?
Behold the magic of a moment so brilliant,
if only I could, I wouldn't waste any time.

Because, sometimes I wish I was beside you,
through the tears, the storms, and the rain,
in a blink be right there, on your needed cue,
to keep you smiling amidst all the pain.

I wish that I could be given all that power,
to be there in no given time at all.
Teleport in just a moment, no need for hours,
of preparation or travel, not even walls.

Be there quicker than you can breathe,
hand extended beckoning you much closer,
when texted words are left to seethe,
our voices heard through our exposure.

If only, I could do this my dearest little muse,
then I could share in all your feted moments,
keep you smiling in blackouts and busted fuses,
singing out to the dark, even if our tune is broken.

And we'd dance, I said I would try at best,
even if I have two clumsy left feet,
I know you've always wanted to test,
if I could keep my steps with the beats.

But alas my dear, I can't do any of this,
for I can't wish myself at your side in seconds,
through mountains, valleys, sights amiss,
the distance daunting, the space it beckons.

So I'll try something a little more different,
close your eyes my muse, and listen to what I say,
with my voice next to you, the words insignificant,
it would seem I was there, for there I would stay.
