Chapter 4:
Chapter 4, "Trouble Brewing":
Tails opened the door to Shadow and Sonic's room, expecting to see Sonic uncomfortably sleeping on the floor, but instead saw Sonic and Shadow both laying down in the bed, Shadow's arms wrapped around Sonic tightly. He dropped his jaw for a moment, then smirked and thought to himself, 'Oh... oh my god...' He closes the door quietly, then knocks on it loudly before entering. When he enters, he finds Sonic and Shadow sleepily tossing in the bed, so he decides to wake them up further, "Hey Shadow, Sonic, get up, it's time for school!"
Sonic opens his eyes and looks at Tails, "Thanks Tails i'll be up in a second." Tails nods and turns around to leave, then stops and says, "Oh yeah, why are you both sleeping in the same bed?" Sonic quickly remembers everything that happened last night, then shakes Shadow awake, "Shadow, get up, I need to talk to you." Shadow, still half asleep, didn't realize Tails was in the room, sat up in bed, then said, "Sure thing..." He leaned in and kissed Sonic on the lips, and Sonic blushed and broke quickly. Shadow became confused and asked, "What is it Sonic?" Sonic pointed to Tails, who watched the whole thing.
Shadow looked over at Tails and, realizing what he saw, hung his head down, "Shit.... You just saw me didn't you?" Tails nods, "So THAT'S why you guys slept togeather. OKAY then, i'm just gonna leave you two to get ready for school." He walks out of the room and closes the door behind him.
Shadow looks at Sonic, "I'm so sorry Sonic, that was my fault." Sonic shrugged," Who cares if Tails knows? For that matter, if the others know? We're all family here, i'm sure they won't have a problem with us if Tails talks." Shadow thought it over for a moment, then nodded, "You're right, what other people think shouldn't get between us." Sonic smiled, then returned Shadow's kiss from earlier. Sonic breaks and says, "We should get ready for school." Shadow nods, and they both change and get their backpacks ready.
They headed downstairs, and found breakfast already made for them. Janet was washing dishes when they came down, and she eyed them as they sat down, the smiled, "Good morning you two, how did you both sleep?" Sonic smiled, "Fine Janet, thanks for asking." "And how about you Shadow?" Shadow looked at Janet and smirked, "Great, thanks." The rest of the kids quietly eyed Sonic and Shadow when they ate, then finished and left one by one, without a word.
Sonic and Shadow finished eating, and left the house quickly so they would catch the bus. Sonic talked to Shadow on the way there, "Hey, do you think Janet and the others were acting kinda... weird?" Shadow shook his head, "I don't know, but I know for a fact Tails blabbed the first chance he got." Sonic grabbed Shadow's hand, "Should we just.... you know... be open about it since they know already? I mean, do you think they won't talk to people at school about it?"
Shadow nodded and gripped Sonic's hand, "If that's what you want, then we can. Besides, I agree, theres no use denying it if eveyone is told this anyway." Sonic smiles, "Thank you Shadow," He kisses Shadow on the cheek, and Shadow blushes. They arrive at the bus stop, still holding hands, and the others watch them as they walk up. A few minutes go hy, and noone says anything, until Amy breaks the silence, "Okay, I guess i'll be the one to talk about the elephant in the room." She sighs, "So let me get this straight: Sonic, Shadow, you two are gay?"
Sonic nods, "Yes, that's right." Amy continues, "And even though you two have only known eachother for a week, you guys are.... togeather?" Shadow smiles, "Yes." He responds. Amy smirks, "Okay then, just thought I would ask." Everyone is silent for a moment, before Knuckles asks, "So have you guys had sex yet?" Rogue bursts out laughing, and the others look at Knuckles. "What? Tails said you guys were in the same bed, and a week IS a week.... Just thought I would ask," He nervously responds.
