I could not see her eyes as she moved closer and closer. My hands began to shake, but my body would not move. My lungs had reached their capacity. It was as if I had forgotten to breathe. I could practically hear the creepy orchestra music in the background. Suddenly, the woman stood upright from her hunched position. She was laughing. What was going on?

"I totallllly got you!!!" Kellen exclaimed, pulling off the long black wig.

"What the hell, man!" I yelled. "That so was not cool!" I began to hit him with my fists. I did not want to hurt him, but he still pissed me off.

"I so got you though! Oh my gosh, you thought it was real." As he laughed himself to death, I calmed down.

"Yeah, but I mean, I wouldn't go as far as to put on a dress if I was you. It would put your masculinity in jeopardy." As I said this, Kellen stopped laughing.

"Wow, that's cold," he said.

"So was what you just did," I snapped back, rolling my eyes at him.

"Hey, hey, hey... It was just a joke. I'm sorry I upset you," he apologized, sincere about this. I looked at him and nodded.

"Alright... But don't pull this kind of stuff on me. I'll help you pull it on someone else next time." I grinned a little as I said this. The day was coming to a close, and we both heard the dinner bell. I yet again explained what the bell meant to our new visitor.

"Get that dress off so you can eat dinner without making a fool of yourself," I stated jokingly. I walked down to the dining room, no longer angry or afraid. Sure, I was still sort of frustrated, but those emotions were trivial. Once dinner started, Savannah, Brecken, and Kellen all sat at the same table. Kellen motioned for me to come over, and I swore I blushed slightly.

"Join them," Mavis said to me, a smile on her lips. "Make some friends. You can't spend all your time sitting with us!" I thanked her and stood, walking over to the table.

For the entirety of dinner, the four of us joked around and laughed. No one gave anyone weird looks or judgmental words. I felt accepted, and it made me very happy to feel that way. We talked about the inn and what we had hoped to do during the summer before we knew we were coming to the inn. Savannah and Kellen talked about how they first met each other and all of the pranks they played on each other. Knowing that we would all get together very well as a group, we thought up ideas of what we would all do together. Kellen revealed to me that he grew up riding horses, and that he would love to ride around with me to see the property. This got us into a conversation about our pasts. We asked Kellen to tell us more.

"Well," he began, "I grew up on a farm with my parents and my older brothers. As soon as they hit college, we moved to the city. They're all successful, always bringing in money. One's a surgeon and the other is a lawyer. Basically, my parents have pressured me to be one of those two things, or something else successful in general. That's just not where I want to go. I want to be an artist or photographer."

"Photography is so much fun," I added in, liking that we had something in common.

"Definitely, but yeah. I want to go back and live on the farm I grew up on. I want to paint scenes of the fields or take photos of the wild flowers. I don't want what my parents want for me. I don't want to, actually I can't live up to their expectations."
