Luciano tried his hardest not to pay the girl any attention but being the curious type, he couldn't let it go and demanded that she pull her hoodie down and he knew he didn't ask in the nicest way but at the moment, he didn't give two sh*ts about his tone or her feelings.
"You could be a little nicer" the girl grumbled as she pulled it down. "I don't have to be nice to anyone" Luciano spat out. "Brother it wouldn't hurt you to be a little gentler in your tone. Mom would have your balls if she heard you talk to a lady that way" Lorenzo said.
Luciano scoffed and remarked "Yeah, if there were a lady present" he bit back. Lorenzo couldn't help notice the girl shrinking at his brother's pissy tone and it was all because that cagna, Jessica, cheating on them, and he's not been the same since.
"I'm Lorenzo" he told the girl, holding out his hand. He watched her nervously look at the offered hand but she eventually took it, shaking it quickly and releasing it. "I'm Shea" she said softly.
"Hmm, Shea. I like that name. It suits you" he said smiling while noticing her relax slightly. "Well Shea" Lorenzo said. "What brings you to Sicily?" "What do you mean?" She asked, her tone nervous again.
"Nothing, it's just you don't have an accent, not Italian anyway, so I know you aren't from here" he said smiling.
Before the girl could respond, Luciano bit out again "Oh for f*cks sake, Renz! Quit trying to be friendly with her. It's not like she's going to become a friend or anything. She'll stay tonight, eat and leave in the morning."
Lorenzo was pissed now. He loved his brother more than life itself, but Jessica turned him into a real a*shole. He wasn't the same caring man he used to be and he couldn't help but wonder if two years had gone by already and he hadn't changed back, chances are he never would.
Lorenzo couldn't help but notice the hurt on the girl's face and the way she clutched her bag, there was way more going on than she let on and he was going to find out what it was.
Once they arrived home, Luciano slammed his way from the vehicle while Lorenzo held the door for Shea. Grabbing her arm, he smiled wanly at her and said "I apologize for my brother's behavior. He's normally not like that.
Anyway, I'll show you to your room and don't worry, you are welcome to stay as long as you want. My sister, Milan, is around your size and she is bringing clothes over for you."
The way Shea looked at him, he knew she wanted to ask him something, but he could tell by her body language that she wouldn't.
"You can ask" Lorenzo said. "Ask what?" Shea countered. "You want to know why I'm being nice to you and what do I have to gain from it" he answered, causing her to blush.
"Why are you?" She asked. "Because I see someone with a good heart but that has experienced great loss and great pain and for whatever reason, your journey brought you here.
Listen Shea, I honestly don't care what brought you here, but I'm glad you are and if the time ever comes and you want to talk about it, I'm here. And I've been told I'm a good listener" he said giving her a lopsided grin.
He watched the facade crack a little and a tiny smile break across her face. "Come on. I'll show you to your room. I'm sure you would like a shower before we eat. Pizza okay with you?" Lorenzo asked.
"Pizza sounds amazing! I haven't had pizza in..." Her voice trailed off and he watched the mask of pain reappear and it hurt his heart seeing anyone in pain.
